CONTEST! Choices! What will it be? #11

If you are not quite sure what this is about, here's a quick introduction to give you a better insight into this.
This contest organised by @patjewell on the @steemladies community requires participants to write on any of the following:
- Earrings
- Gold
- Egg
- Snake, or
- Telephone.
So, what will it be?
Will mine be on snakes, earrings, gold, telephone, or eggs?
Well...I choose TELEPHONE!
If I was asked what I consider to be one of the greatest innovations of all time, then it will be the telephone.
Telecommunication has made it easier for humans to connect and complete tasks swiftly. Thus, saving time, resources, and energy.
The telephone makes it possible for one to communicate with others at the same time despite their distance.
It transmits messages using electric, electronic, or electromagnetic impulses.
The traditional telephone converts audio sounds into an electrical signal. This signal is then sent over a cable or other communication channels and then converted back to audio on the receiver’s end.
Before the advent of telephones, people connected with others via letters and messengers. Others will sail ships with parcels and messages.
Communication was strained. If the pieces of information were relayed later than the stipulated time frame, then there was bound to be a whole lot of trouble.
People had to be proactive. Messages were sent days, weeks, and even months to the time.
Now imagine that there was an emergency.
Or maybe a change of plan and someone was already sent on the way.
What would happen?
With the advancement of technology came the invention of electronic telephones now known as cell phones or mobile phones.
Facts about the telephone
Do you know that the first salutation used by telephone users was ahoy!? As time progressed, people adopted hello! instead.
Do you know that Alexander Graham Bell was the first man to own an electric telephone in the United States? This happened in March 1876.
Do you know that the American writer, Mark Twain, was one of the first people to have a telephone in their home?
Do you know that the payphone is a coin-operated public telephone that could be used by anyone to make a call?
Do you know that phone books were handwritten during the times of traditional telephones?
But what are some differences between the traditional telephone and mobile phones?
- Contacts were saved in phonebooks during the era of traditional telephones. Mobile phone users store their contact via Google or on Cloud.
- Traditional telephones were used primarily for calls. While mobile phones can perform other actions like connecting to the internet, sending and receiving messages, etc.
Final Thoughts
Communication comes naturally to all humans. We talk about our health, make a request, make inquiries, give commands, you name it. But it was rather difficult to communicate effectively with others, not until the invention of traditional telephones and later, mobile phones. Communication took a swift drift from being traditional to electronic. We owe all of these to the advancement of technology.

Telephone! I enjoyed the interesting facts that you have shared about the telephone. Some of them were unknown to me, like the one about Mark Twain. It is so nice when we can read posts and learn from them.
I hope to see your entry in the next contest.
