This so reminds me of the great words of Socrates we learnt in our philosophy class 2 years ago..... The adage says, "man know thyself" and the later half which is always excluded says "and know thine enemies".
The knowledge of your strengths (thyself) and weaknesses(enemies) helps you become a better person like you rightly said
Wow, I'm actually fond of hearing and seeing just the first part ("Man know thyself"), knowing the second part now gives more meaning and balance to it all.
It's interesting how you related the adage to our strength and weaknesses, truly knowing these is the first step in making any progress at all.
