Sri Lanka is my country, a beautiful small island in the Indian Ocean. This island is famous not only for its breathtaking scenery and warm hospitality but also for its extremely valuable diamonds. It has been a treasure trove of diamonds for centuries. People all over the country are very interested in Sri Lankan diamonds.

These precious stones were discovered in the soil of Sri Lanka many years ago. These treasures are mainly hidden deep within Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa Province. In particular, Ratnapura District of my country is very famous for these precious stones. Mining diamonds is not an easy task, but people in Sri Lanka have learned the art of diamond mining and have become experts in the field. The mining of these gemstones is still a traditional and sustainable practice in Sri Lanka. It is said that more than two-thirds of Sri Lanka's land contains gem deposits, but only 20% of them are mined yet.

Are you aware that Sri Lankan diamonds have a big connection with the British Royal Family? It is said that the diamond known as Koh-I-Noor has a long and illustrious history with kings and queens. This dazzling gem has been passed down through generations and has now become the most important piece in the Royal Collection. Even though the royal family now owns the diamond, it traveled from India to Persia before returning to the United Kingdom.

When a queen and princesses are participating in important ceremonies, their crowns shine brightly with this diamond. This Koh-I-Noor diamond is not just for looking pretty, but it symbolizes the power and prestige of the royal family. Despite its beauty, this diamond has sparked a bit of debate due to its historical significance. Still, it remains a vital part of the royal jewels, connecting the British monarchy to the enchanting mines of Sri Lanka. When you see the British royal crowns gleaming with diamonds tomorrow, remember that these sparkling diamonds are part of this small island.

In addition to Koh-I-Noor diamond, Sri Lanka produce a wide range of valuable diamonds such as Ceylon Sapphires, Rubies, Padparadscha, Alexandrite, and Moonstones. Sri Lanka is the ninth largest exporter of diamonds to the global market and one of the world's five most important gem-bearing nations.

The diamond industry has a significant economic impact in Sri Lanka. It creates job opportunities for many people, helping families and communities. Not only that this exquisite gemstone trade makes a significant contribution to economic growth.

Sri Lankan skilled artisans use their expertise to cut and polish these precious gems, bringing out their natural beauty. Their delicate hands and keen eyes turn these rough stones into sparkling gems. The radiant quality of Sri Lankan diamonds makes them easily identifiable. So, if you see a beautiful Sri Lankan diamond, don't hesitate to purchase it because it shows off your wealth to the world while also bringing you good fortune.

My dearest friends, you may now understand why I chose the word 'DIAMOND' for this contest. Because, as a proud Sri Lankan lady, I needed to educate the ladies on this platform about the value of our diamonds and jewels. I would like to invite @mvchacin, @pathanapsana, @pandora2010, @suboohi , @sualeha and @eliny to participate in this contest.

Greetings friends, diamonds are the hardest material in the world. It cannot be smoothed by rubbing with anything. But if it is an artificial diamond, then rubbing it with sandpaper will stain it. The reason a diamond shines so brightly is because of its refractive properties. Thank you very much for participating in the contest.

Well... you indeed educated us about diamonds.

In South Africa we had the Cullinan Diamond, the biggest diamond in the world. It was cut into 9 diamonds of which the biggest is sitting on the septer, or sceptre as known by some, of the queen.

Good luck with the contest!

Oh! It is new information to me. The Queen is catching a South African Cullinan diamond and wearing a Sri Lankan Koh-I-Noor on her head. Not bad; perhaps all of these were brought during colonial times.😁
