Choices! What will it be? #17
Hello, my dear friends, today I am back with the Steem For Ladies Community to compete in the contest organized by @patjewell. Let's see what this week words are: footprints, razor, towel, castle, and magnet. My attention was drawn to the word magnet, as I recall my school days. Yes, that word is suitable for expressing my thoughts. Let's see what I have to say to you then.
As I previously stated, I recall my school days. Magnet is one of the lesson in our Grade 6 science subject. How lovely the days, we learned about magnet lesson, surrounding our science teacher, at our school laboratory. I never forget the way she taught us magnet lesson, with tests and observations.
First, she showed us how to remove a pin from a glass of water, without removing the water or using any other tools. She accomplished this by placing a magnet near the pin on the outside of the glass and slowly pulling it up.
She explained that this happened because magnetic have a special property that attracts certain substances. She went on to say that a magnet is an object that can exert an invisible force called magnetism, which attracts some metals such as iron and nickel.
She further said that magnets cannot attract wood, plastic, or metals such as gold or copper. She explained that magnetic objects attracted by magnets, while nonmagnetic objects are unaffected by magnets. As our science period for the day was over, my teacher transfer to the next class.
On the second day we had two periods together, that day the teacher put some iron powder on a piece of paper and placed a bar magnet on it, and put a small knock on the paper. Then the iron powder attracted both side of the magnet. With that test, our teacher explained that two ends that attracted iron powder are known as magnetic poles. And introduced, one side called north magnetic poles and other side called south magnetic poles.
As the North and South poles of the magnet are usually marked, but if they are not, she taught us a simple test to identify these poles. She taught us how to determine the direction of a magnet based on the direction it turns when balanced by a string. She further explained that pilots, navigators, and explorers use compasses to find directions as the compass is made of a magnet.
She said that when the magnets’ poles are brought closer together, the results are different. That is, when similar poles are close together, they repel, whereas opposite poles are close together, they attract.
She further explained where the magnetic force is spread is called a magnetic field.
She taught us that the Earth has a magnetic field and it is known as geomagnetism. When a compass is placed near the Earth, the direction of the compass’s north pole is the direction of the Earth’s magnetic field. She further explained that geomagnetism is the science responsible for studying the origin, properties, and holidays of this Earth’s magnetic field.
She said that there are two variety of magnets: permanent and temporary. An electromagnet's magnetism exists only when electricity is supplied and it is called as temporary magnet, whereas bar magnets are called permanent magnets because they remain magnetized for a long time.
She went on that permanent magnets are used in small electric motors, door locks, fancy toys, compass sights, loudspeakers, etc.
Finally, she taught us, as the magnetic can be affected by electricity it is useful to machines as well as electric bells. And she taught us that in day-to-day life we mostly use permanent magnets as well as temporary magnets. That is what my teacher taught to us in our lesson.
Later, as I grew older, I discovered that magnets are used in earphones, televisions, and to store data in computers. And I learned that it also use for scanning machines known as MRIs (Magnetic Resonance Images), which are used by doctors to look inside people's bodies.
My dear friends, here is my entry to this contest. I would like to invite @mile16, @sariana, @jazminuru, and @ashkhan to participate in this lovely contest. Contest announcement here.

Okay, you gave me a big surprise this week with your entry. (•ิ‿•ิ)
Magnet! I would never have guessed.
Thank you for entering another week of Choices.
Good luck!
Thank you for bringing back memories of my school days.
Pleasure! (•ิ‿•ิ)
Your can described so well about mangnet... This is very informative post ever
Thankyou for given us a lots of info about mangnet..keep growing 💗
Thank you for reading my post and leaving such a kind feedback.
Its my pleasure 😊
Hi @senehasa, she was a very good teacher who, over time students maintain the information received, I could remember my classes at school.
Thank you for sharing this publication where I could remember this interesting topic, we can also practice in our homes and show our relatives.
Greetings.
Yes, this is a good lesson, especially for children.
Your teacher must have been a good teacher to make you remember all that she taught you, only few persons can get that right.
Magnets are a force of nature which is used to make almost everything electrical in our present era.
Yes, she is Champa Madam wearing light color saree, with a smile on her face, how can we forget her.
It felt like I was in my primary 5 basic science class and my teacher was reintroducing us to magnets. Interestingly, our magnetics never had north and south poles. Haha.
They were just black flat items with an uneven edge. Some were as kinda round and small.
Till today, I still can't figure out where OUR BOYS got those magnets. These humans were so adventurous.
You've shared real knowledge creatively.
Yes, me too, it is a question. Any way it is so valuable. Thank you for taking your time to read my post and your lovely feedback.
