**Christmas Eve.**
Hello!

✅How is Christmas usually celebrated in my family??
Christmas is a feast observed and celebrated every 25th December to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Christmas season is a season full of festivities. It is a season where friends and families travel back home to celebrate and be together with their loved ones. It is always a lovely thing to behold, seeing friends that have been away for a long while coming back home, getting to reunite with distant cousins and niblings, having your big uncles and aunties around.
In my family, the Christmas celebration starts from the first day of December. We ensure that we clean and tidy up the entire house and it's environs and also decorate the house with Christmas lights and flowers. We also enjoy listening to Christmas songs most especially songs by Boney M.
On Christmas day, we all ensure we attend church in the morning. After church, we go back home to prepare our delicious and mouth watering Christmas food. When food is ready, my mom will distribute food and hand over to us to share with our neighbors. Most often, we attached our Christmas gifts to it too. We only eat after we've shared those Christmas food and gifts with our neighbors.
We gist and laugh as a family, often talking about the good old memories, after which we visit some recreational centres. We also visits the cinema in the evening to watch interesting Christmas movies like the Christmas Chronicles.
✅What meals do you eat that day??
There is always a lot to eat on Christmas day. Basically, we prepare variety of foods which include pounded yam with vegetable soup, rice and stew with salad, fried rice and jollof rice. We also ensure we make variety of drinks such as hibiscus tea, smoothies and kunun zaki (a very popular drink from Northen Nigeria made from millet or sorghum).
My most favorite meal is pounded yam with vegetable soup and goat meat. It goes down well with a glass of juice. I just can't wait for December 25th to be here once again.
✅What do I like most about Christmas Eve??
What I love most about Christmas Eve is:
- The Christmas Eve Mass I'll be attending later in the evening. I so much love this moment because it often enables me to keep awake and enter the Christmas day. Aside that, I also love the Christmas Eve sermon given by the priest each year. It always have a unique and touching message.
- The fireworks and crackers that fills the atmosphere. It has never been a dull moment for me on every Christmas Eve as I always participate in the fireworks display, ushering us to Christmas celebration.
- How can I forget how the air is always been saturated by the beautiful aroma of people frying the Christmas choppies and meat. It always leaves me full even when I haven't eaten.
✅Do you gather with your family to celebrate Christmas??
Yes, we always gather as a family to celebrate Christmas. Christmas is the only time most of my family members apply for their annual leave just to be with their loved ones. Of course, most times, we often steal the moment to not only celebrate Christmas but also ensure we snap family pictures for future reference.
✅What can't be missed on Christmas eve??
The most thing I can't afford to miss on Christmas Eve is the Christmas Eve Mass. After this is the fireworks. This is always bright and colorful and usually fun-filled.
✅Would you love to watch a Christmas movie that night?
Yes. I've always anticipated to watch a movie on the night of Christmas Eve but for the fact that I always have so many activities lined up till the next morning which is already Christmas day, I've never had time to watch a Christmas movie on any of the Christmas Eve nights.
