Assalam o Alequm, I hope everyone is well. I'm doing fine too. Today I'm here to participate in the Steem for Ladies community's creativity contest. I'd like to express my gratitude to @patjewell for organizing this contest. I've chosen the dove as my entry because it's a meaningful and thoughtful choice.
Doves are interesting birds that are part of the same family as pigeons. There are over 300 types of doves around the world and they come in many colors and sizes. They are known for their common traits and have symbolic meaning in many cultures.
Doves are categorized into two main types wild doves and domestic doves. Wild doves are doves that live in the wild like in forest or desert. They haven't been bred by people and are used to living on their own. Domestic doves that people have bred and raised. They are often keep as pets or used for special event and they're more used to being around people.

Each species has its own unique characteristics and behaviors. Some of the most common wild dove are Mourning dove , Rock dove, Spotted dove, White winged Dove etc. The Mourning dove is known for its soft mournful cooing sound and has a gray brown color. The Rock dove also called the common pigeon is found all over the world with a gray body darker wings and two black bars on it wings. The Spotted Dove has a pale brown body covered with white spots on its wings and neck. Lastly the White winged dove has a grayish body white patches on its wings and a red ring around it eyes.
✨✨Domestic dove✨✨
Domestic doves are those that people raise for different reason like having them as pet using them as ornamental birds or releasing them at special events. Some common breeds include the Ringneck Dove, Diamond dove, Fantail dove and Australian Crsted dove. The Ringneck dove is a common with a ring of feathers around its neck. The diamond dove is smaller and has a pattern of spot on its feather that looks like diamonds on it wings. The Fantail dove has a special fan shaped tail and moves gracefully. Lastly the Austrlian crsted dove is a domestic dove from Australia with a unique crest of feathers on its head.
✨NATIONAL BIRD✨
The Mourning dove is the national bird of the British Virgin Islands. This bird is common in the Caribbean and is known for its soft cooing sound and graceful flying. Its a good symbol for the British Virgin Islands because it represent peace and calm.
In ancient times before phones and internet people trained doves to carry messages. They tie small scrolls or letters to the dove legs and release them to fly long distances. After delivering the messages the doves return home making them reliable messengers. This method known as pigeon post was used by people like the Greeks, Romans and Egyptian to send message quickly over long distance.
Keeping doves as pet can be really nice bcz they're gentle and soothing. People like having them as pets bcz they make soft cooing sounds have pretty feathers and are easy to take care of. Ringneck dove is a popular choice because it's friendly and can bond well with people. Spending time with your dove, talking to it, and giving it treats can help you and your pet get closer. Doves can be great pets if you give them the right care, attention, and a good place to live. Their calm and beautiful presence can make a home feel peaceful and relaxed.
Nowadays people also release dove at event like weddings or memoriels. This symbolic gesture is mean to represent peace, love and new beginnings. As the doves are set free they soar into the sky add a beautiful and meaningful moment to the occasion.
My favorite dove is the pure white dove. Its truly stunning with its pristine white feathers and graceful flight. Its easy to see why they capture the hearts of so many! Thats why I tried to draw it on a white sheet. I'll show you my drawing step by step.
First I took a pencil and started drawing the face of the dove. Then I draw its wings and body using the pencil. After sketching the structure with pencil I started outlining the dove with a pen. Then I created a decorative border around the drawing to enhance its appearance.

Nice to read your post about doves. I did not know in this much detail about doves I only knew that doves are symbol of peace. Your post was very informative about this type of birds. And your drawing is also very nice. But personally I don't like keeping birds as pets as we are destroying their freedom. I have nest of birds on my entrance gate and I love it. My family observes them very keenly, and enjoy talking about them.

It's through this post I got to know about domestic and wild dove. I only knew about doves but it never crossed my mind to enquire if it can be kept as domestic or otherwise.
Yes, it's true that doves signifies love and new beginning. It's also nice to know that doves are being released during weddings as a sign of love.
