In ancient time, girls are discriminated against in access to education, properties, opportunities, etc. The girl child is seen as the homemaker, she is seen as a slave, helpless, kitchen base.

But today, what is the outcome? What has become of the girl child? That brings us to the topic of this contest "The life of a girl child"

Yes, I believe so much in girl child education. Without a doubt, we all know that it is important to educate all children, girl child, and boy child but more productive, better, sustainable, and lasting result when a girl child undergo an intensive quality education.

Reasons

¶A girl child education increases gender equality

A girl child's earning power can elevate her standing with family and community members to discuss important issues. This gives her so much confidence in herself and to stand up for herself and others too especially when it comes to their children.

¶A girl child education lower poverty ratio

A girl child who undergoes quality education can earn more to help eradicate poverty in her family and society. A woman can decide to stay hungry and channel her earnings to her family or society to get a peak out of it.

I have seen a young lady who was sent abroad to study and after her study, she returned big and decided to do a lot for her community. She had a lot of young ones sponsored in school and taken care of.

She doesn't want to benefit alone, she carried everyone along. That is how poverty can be eradicated through a girl child's education.

¶A girl child education help improve health

An educated woman knows the benefits of good health. She doesn't joke when it comes to health-related issues. She can create new ideas for nutritional meals to keep her family healthy.

Early girl child marriage shouldn't be encouraged because marriage is a thing of mature minds. There should be a certain age a girl child should attain before talking about marriage, but in most families, because I can see this issue comes from families. Once a girl child attains the age of 16, some mothers start thinking of the wealthy husband that child will need to bring home to them.

Most parents push their girl child into early marriage without understanding the consequences attached to it. That is why today, we have a lot of divorces, this is because they flew into marriage without an understanding of what marriage was all about.

In a catholic church here in Nigeria, once you are a full member of the church, you must undergo classes before marriage. These classes are to help know if the persons involved are of mature minds. Although I don't know if it's still applicable today.

Early girl-child marriage causes a lot of havoc. It could lead to divorce, sexual abuse, domestic violence, etc... I think early girl-child marriage should be stopped to help put the minds and bodies of the girl child in right frame and give them a beautiful tomorrow.

I know of a system called Division of labor. This is the process through which work are been shared among persons to carry out duly.

Chores should be shared among the boys and the girls. While growing up, my mom shares the house chores with my siblings and me. Everyone must get busy and then during weekends, even my dad has his portion of the chores.

Parents should let their children explore certain things at home. The boys should be allowed to be in the kitchen while the girls should also be allowed to fetch water, sweep compounds, cut grass, etc. No one must do a particular chore.

Although the girl child is beautifully and wonderfully made, there are some challenges she faces;

•Menstruation: This can also be called a period. It is normal vaginal bleeding that comes as a woman's cycle. Before this menstruation, there is what we call ovulation, this will be the story for another day.

Menstruation/period comes with different feelings, pains, body changes, and so on. I have a friend that when her menstrual flow starts, cannot walk with her two legs until 3 days after, that was how bad the pain was for her.

•Early marriage: A lot of young girls today who were taken into early marriage have been denied the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. Most of them dreamt to become a doctor, seamstresses, nurses, engineers, pilots, waitresses, etc... but early marriage killed it all. And this single act puts them in a state of violence because of bitterness in the mind.
