Choices! What will it be? #33
Hello ladies
God always gives his best to those who leave the choice with Him, -Jim Elliot
My choice would be SNAIL.
A snail is a small animal with a long, soft body with no legs but a spiral 🌀 shell to protect the body Snails are known for moving slowly, and as they move, they leave a slime trail behind. They are shilded by the slime as they move.
Did you know snails are deaf? Yes, they are; they only use their sense of smell to locate food around them. I read in an article that a snail is both male and female; thus, there is no way to distinguish between the two. Due to their hermaphroditic nature, snails are able to both lay and fertilize female eggs.
You might be wondering if snails sleep at night. Yes, they do, and the best time to see them is at night or early in the morning. I could remember back in the days when we went hunting for snails at night.
I moved inside the bush with my siblings and a lantern to help us see the snails easily. We move around 9 p.m. at night with other children around the neighborhood; it was so fun catching enough snails for a pot of soup the next day hahaha 🤣.
Snails can live for 15–20 years, which is best considering how long it will take them to cross a yard. In my country home, people rear snails and sell them when they are mature. I think that is why they make a lot of profits: they don't easily die, and they don't spend money feeding them.
Since they are invertebrates, snails don't have a bone. The components of a snail's body are its head, neck, hump, tail, and foot.
Snails can survive anywhere, but they do not like heat. I think that is why they move during the cool evening or early in the morning before sunset. If you want to go snail hunting, it should be during a cool evening, especially when there is dew. The snails move at this time because this is their best part of movement.
Snails consume food by moving smoothly over a food source. They grind their food with a device called a redula in their mouth. There are over 43000 different kinds of snails, some of which can be found in salt water, fresh water, or on land. The two most well-known species of snails in the world are the land snails and the garden snails.
Snails are eaten by humans in different parts of the world because of their health benefits. I guess you didn't know that. I would prefer to cook with snails than with meat. Let me talk about some health benefits of a snail...
Snails are good sources of calcium, vitamin A, iron, and other minerals. Iron energizes us to be fit for our daily activities; calcium helps our bones be strong; and vitamin A helps our visuals. An average snail is comprised of 80% water, 15% protein, and 2.4% fat.
Did you know that snails are used for cosmetics and medicinal purposes?
This is true because the slime in a snail contains allantoin, antibiotics, glycolic acid, collagen, and elastin, and so it heals and regenerates skin cells, minimizing scars. I have used the snail slime once to have a facial cleanse, and it turned out perfect. You can try it. If you have a cut, you can apply the slime to the cut and watch it heal. It also softens the skin.
There is so much information about a snail, which might not be possible for me to exhaust in this entry, but I would love it if you researched more about it and told yourself to start eating snails today because it is very good for our health.
Today's choice is making me salivate already! I think I will be cooking something with snails soon because it's been a while since I ate it due to its high cost.

Wow! You post is full of information about snails.
I have learned so much from it.
I also like snails but never had it in a soup like I've read it is cooked in Nigeria. We eat them with garlic butter and fingers of brown bread.
Nice post!
Oh! Just have a taste of snail in soup, you would scream for more I bet you... It's delicious.
Thank you ma'am!
Pleasure!☕
