Choices! What will it be? #67

CLIMB

If a life of exploits rewards together, it demands you take the stakes higher.

This thought pattern has stuck with me for years. So i remember as a child, conversations would go in this way;

• Look, there is a nest with laid bed eggs on the tree.The vultures will devour it if we don't get to it first. Can you climb and bring it down??

Tami would say to Daniel his brother.

• I can also smell a dead rat up the roof, can you bring it down?? My mum would lovingly ask my father.

It seems that everything in life worth getting is out of reach and one would have to stretch to get them.
Words like "It's either you climb up the social ladder or get eaten at the foot of the food chain" are bandied around like a whip searching for errant school kids to bring to order.

Of what use is it to climb you may ask? Why doesn't life bring what I deserve?.

Will I ever have a time when everything I need will come to me? Oh no there won't, because life doesn't give a man what he deserves, life submits to a man who demands it. But do we have men bold enough to demand from life?
And if yes, what is the currency to make these demands?!!

Everything you ever need is a step above you, sometimes two. Inorder to get them one must put one foot in front of the other, or be it an arm, but there must be a stepping out of comfort into the unknown just like a little boy trying to pluck mangoes from a tree ten times his height. All he sees are the mangoes, he doesn't see the danger of falling down empty handed until he gets to the top and looks down.

He has but two choices to make

• Forget the consequences of courageously reaching out in the first place to climb and keep aiming for his fruit or

• look down and stay glued at one point. Forward never and backward unable.

So what will the choice be?. Will you climb and reach out to everything you've ever desired and dreamed of whilst remembering that danger lays wait for the courageous.

Remember, Life does not give a man what he deserves, life only gives you what you demand. So demand away and be ready to take either the climb or the plunge whichever comes first to attain your desired results.

This truth applies to all areas of life. The more effort and perseverance someone puts into something, the more likely it is going to work.

A leader I admire so much would tell me to always work smart,not just hard as one can work hard and yet not have anything to show for it. He would show me instances of people who worked hard but not smart and how at old age they would still be forced to work because they have nothing to feed from.

What is smart work?

Smart work is delegation. Smart work is human investment. Don't think you alone can do everything. We humans weren't created to be an island. Invest in others around you, in a friend's startup business, wether as a silent partner or however. Build people, be a part in the success stories of others. This is smart work.
This way, you can always have people to help you too and stand by your side even when you go through tough situations.

So what choice will it be?
