The name of my dish is called Afang soup, this is one of the best soup in my state Akwa Ibom State, and Cross River State my mother's state. Infact, afang soup is a popular Nigerian dish that is loved and enjoyed by so many people because of it's nutritious value.

Afang soup is a delicious soup made with afang leaf and waterleaf, it is a very good source of dietary fibre because it is basically prepared with vegetables.

Why I chose to prepare this dish was because it has been long I ate it, the last time I prepared it was since January and I've been craving it a for some time now. I chose it because it's a soup that you can not get tire of eating, no matter how you prepare it you will still enjoy it.

What is the process of making it? (Share steps with ingredients).

These are the ingredients I used in preparing my afang soup

✓ Afang (I blended it with manual machine in the market since I didn't want to come and waste more time in pounding it with mortar)

✓ waterleaf

✓ Goat meat

✓ periwinkle

✓ Red oil

✓ stock cube

✓ Fresh pepper (I pound it)

✓ Salt

✓ Crayfish (I pound it)

✓ Dry fish

✓ Onions (I sliced it)

Preparation

1. I washed and steam the meat with a little water I added stock cube, pepper, salt, and onions I allowed meat to boil till it becomes soft, then I will add my washed dry fish and periwinkle and stir it well so that the seasoning will enter their body well.

  1. I washed and sliced my water leaf into tiny pieces then I cook it in a separate pot so that the water in it will dry off, then I will pour the cooked waterleaf into the pot of meat, put red oil and add the crayfish then stir it with a spoon, then you cover it to cook for about 5 to 10 minutes.

3. The last thing I put in the pot was the grinded afang and I stir it well, cover it and leave to simmer for like 3 to 4 minutes, then your soup is ready.

I bought cassava fufu from the market, so I served the fufu with the soup. But you can serve yours with any swallow of your choice, like semolina fufu, Garri (eba) or even pounded yam.

How much did it cost you to make this dish in your country? (Specify including steem price).

In my country Nigeria, the price of things are so outrageous now and if you are the type that can't manage, earnestly you won't be able to eat good food.

From my ingredients listed above you will see that I cut my coat according to my cloth (leaving within my means) by managing the little money I have to cook this delicious dish.

Below are the amount I spend in naira and in steem to make myself that delicious dish.

Afang Soup is the favorite to 80% citizens of Akwa Ibom state. Anyhow it is prepared, whether it is delicious or not, u can eat it, compared to other leaves we use as soup. It is a soup that does not waste time once the afang is grinded or pounded. The afang looks yummy yummy and i feel it will be very delicious. Every Akwa Ibom women should know how to cook this particular soup. Success in your contest
