Choices! What will it be? #70

It feels good to be here, I think it my very first time making a post in this community, or should I just say the very first time in a long while...but trust me am super happy to be here making an entry into one of the beautiful contest we have running in the community by mama @patjewell. I hope am welcome with an open arms... smiles.

So I decided to make my choice from the list of choice we have for the week. I would like to go for Wisdom. Well don't mind me. Something came to my mind as soon as my eyes stumbled upon it and I thought to share.

Since we have been given liberty to express ourselves from any angle, I would cease the opportunity to write a story telling how principal wisdom is when compared to other things like strenght and capacity. Let's get into it.

There is this old African folktale which talks about a king in the animal kingdom who wanted to have a feast but wanted to make it a feast with some kind of fun. He then decided to throw a challenge to all the animals in his jurisdiction with a very precious price.

What is this challenge? He told everyone specifically that anyone who can bring a big animal such as a cow or elephant in chain or rope tied round it neck would have his daughter as a prize in return for that daring act.

This was indeed a challenge to all of them because the animals were no match for these big creatures and of course all the animals around shrinked and would not take up the challenge. They all imagined how possible it is to get this done.

Like how could they approach the cow or elephant, they would definitely be like some dwarf before them and then doing daring the greater risk of tieng a rope around the neck of these big animals. They were no match for these animals.

All the while the Tortoise was there listening to how these animals obviously cower from the challenge, he was silent because he had another plan. Like other animals, he was no match for them, he doesn't have a strength that could bring the elephant neither could he drag a cow down there.

He decided to activate the plan. He went afterwards to visit the elephant who was obviously ignorant of all the happenings in the jungle. He told the elephant that he had a good new for him. The elephant who was already being pleased on hearing that became more attentive.

The Tortoise then told him that a feast would be happening in the kings palace and through his influence, he (elephant) has been given the rare privilege to be the most honorable guest of the occasion. This sounds really good, too good to be true but excitement would not allow the elephant take a deep thought or prove further.

Before the elephant could process the whole thing, the tortoise had asked that they begin the journey to the palace, that he himself would like to usher him to the palace as it would be his pleasure to do that to whom the king has highly favored. At this point the elephant had totally been swept off his feet.

So they began the journey together and they kept walking, the tortoise told the elephant that he has become too tired to walk and request that he helps him by putting him on his back since he has the strength to. Well the elephant obliged and place him on it back and the continued.

They haven't gone very far before the tortoise made another subtle request asking that the elephant should allow him put a rope around his neck that he could hold on to so he doesn't fall off his back as they keep moving. The elephant again obliged. So the tortoise held the rope all the way down to the palace.

Guess what!? He came down and then handed over the rope to the king. The confused elephant didn't know he had just be taken advantaged off by a wise tortoise. The tortoise got his prize, the King's daughter. You need to see how amazed every other animal were to see the tortoise win the challenge by being wise.

Moral Lesson

Indeed wisdom is the principal thing, well the tortoise must have been cunny with it usage but it does prove the fact that wisdom is greater than strenght. Every other animal focused on their strength and never arrived at the possiblity of winning the challenge

But tortoise on the other hand decide to look beyond his physical strength and ability. Hence the method he deviced in winning the kings challenge.

This is actually a folktale that looks like some unrealistic joke but then the message is loud and comprehensive enough. We need to start embracing working smart and not desipating unnecessary energy, times have indeed changed and we need to flow with the tide.
