Hello everyone, First and foremost, thank you to the Steem For Ladies Community for organizing this challenge, which I am delighted to participate in. I'd want to meet everyone and convey my best wishes.

Surprise is symbolized by an exclamation mark with its ancient history when it makes a great contribution for our spoken language today. The exclamation is by far not only a dot above a dash. Interestingly, exclamation mark is significant in that it expresses wonder, amazement, shock in our language. I think, compared to others like the question mark, hashtag symbol, at the rate symbol, and speech bubble, this exclamation mark stays single and unique. In my opinion, the hashtag, the at the rate symbol, and the speech bubble only exist after the rise of the digital world, and of course the question mark is the very old one, and the second position goes to the exclamation mark.

The point of exclamation has the oldest roots coming from the fifteenth century when it was known as the “point of admiration”. The point signified any amazement which the readers were expected to share with the writer. Its use grew over time to express shock, alarm, or even more forceful meaning. Literature uses the exclamation mark to show intense emotions or volume, which mostly signifies the last word in a sentence. For example, the exclamation mark in the statement "What a beautiful sunset!" indicates the subject's amazement at the incredible beauty of the sunset.

Exclamation mark, one of those symbols we always associate with express extreme feelings and dimensions. The term originally derives from medieval manuscripts and is a contraction of the Latin "io," meaning joy or laughter. Eventually, the "o" became a small dot and the dot in the "i" disappeared. Thus, those shrinking makes the exclamation mark abbreviated as "!". As a result, during the Renaissance era, the exclamation point came to be used to express strong emotions in texts. The keyboard did not have a specific key for the exclamation mark until 1970. You used to have to hit a period key and delete some spaces and place an apostrophe above it before. In the digital age, the exclamation point has a new significance. For example, "see you soon!" may look nicer than "see you". Nevertheless, as powerful as an exclamation mark may be, it is something that should only be used very carefully. Repeated use may spoil its effect and even seize it of credibility. The best thing about it is that it should be used with honesty and passion if one needs to express a strong emotion or emphasize on something.

Although it’s tiny, an exclamation mark can be powerful in saying so much about our speech. Colour and feel gives meaning to words, thus makes our messages lively and personalistic. Therefore, think of integrating an exclamation mark in your next text or writing. It will prove an ideal instrument for adding a little bit of extra excitement into communicating!

Lastly, the exclamation mark is an unusual sign with an interesting origin and tremendous effect upon the way we communicate. From a Latin word for joy to an integral component of our tongue – exclamations mark colours our speech making it beautiful and emotional. Language is dynamic and keeps changing, and this is decorated by the test of time through adaptation for our communicative purposes. It is an instrument to give life and feeling in speech making the message more dramatic and alive.

Similarly, I enthusiastically invite my friends to take part in this challenge @nexcis, @yokondap.

Thank you for entering this week's contest of "Choices."
You have written a very interesting post about "!"
Off them all, I love to use the "!" but sometimes people can take it up the wrong way.
I always write "Greetings!" at the bottom of my emails, and once I was asked why I was upset.

A bit of advice, write in shorter paragraphs as it makes reading so much easier.

Good luck with the contest!
