Hello everyone, we have come to the end of the year and it is customary for people to sit back and analyse their progress and setbacks for the year while also thinking of how to better their lives by setting new ones. Like Abraham Lincoln said:

The best way to predict your future is to create it.

To predict a future in the new year, we need to create it and there is not better a way than to set goals.

It doesn't end with setting goals alone, what are the plans to make sure this goals are achieved, what is the 'why' of our goals, are the goals achievable? These are always questions we need to look at to avoid a goalless year.

Just like in football, the players plan well for 90 minutes by passing, dribbling and shooting the ball. Their aim is to shoot the ball into the goal.
They celebrate when they score a goal.

The same thing applies to our daily life.

A goal is a specific target or aim in which a person tries to achieve. There are different types of goals a person can aim to achieve, which are:

Personal goals, business goals, Team goals, fitness goals, relationship goals, health goals etc.

     Reasons To Have Goals

As simple as it may look, a person with no goals will certainly have no direction. Goals should be a part of our lives.

Setting goals gives us direction in life and should be encouraged. A life without goals is one with no direction.

Setting goals gives us an extra motivation and push; when we set goals, we get that extra push or motivation to complete a task, same can't be said when we don't set them.

Setting a goal is one step, accomplishing these goals is another step. We have had people set goals and they are unable to accomplish Apr persist. For example, I set a goal to reach 1000 steem power by the end of the year. By January, I had less than 500 steem power.

What was I going to do to achieve 1000 steem power?
I had to sit down and study how others achieve this feat very fast. I needed to be consistent in posting quality content, I needed to vote for others, comment on others' post also. Though I haven't achieved 1000 steem power yet but I am so close to it.

Before you set a goal, you must make sure you ask yourself what you want, why you want it and how you can achieve them.

When you have gotten the necessary answers, you can set your goals. Make it challenging but not impossible. Some people make or set unrealistic goals which they can't achieve. This brings about low confidence in one's self.

Set goals for the year, set sub goals that will help to achieve the goals for the year. For example, if I want to achieve 1000 steem power in a year, I will have to set sub goals every day that will help me achieve that. Some of those subgoals could be making 2 or more post daily, voting for people and commenting. These sub goals will help to accomplish the goal of 1000 steem power in a year.

You will need all the discipline you can get when setting a goal. Sometimes we get tired on the way and we forget to accomplish our goals. We have to be disciplined and consistent to achieve goals.

Always keep tracks of the things you have done:
To be able to achieve your goals, keep track of the things you have done...tick the boxes of what you've done and things you can't accomplish. Always keep your goals simple and realistic.

When we don't achieve the goals we've set out for, sometimes we get disappointed, discouraged and weak.

But you don't have to feel that way when you don't get to achieve your dreams.

Restrategize, build a better network that can help your achieve those goals, be consistent and persistent.

When goals are achieved we become happy, because goals determines the direction of your life...
