I'm really grateful to @patjewell ma'am for giving me opportunity to share my views on the topic Salt. I'm very excited to participate in the contest 'Choices! What will it be? #47' as this is my fourteenth post in the series. As per the rules of contest I would like to invite two lady fellow Steemians to participate in the contest @eveetim and @comfortpeter
Though I was born after twelve years of India's independance, I'm very patriotic by nature. I don't leave any stone unturned if I get an opportunity to mention the struggle of Indian freedom movement.
In the year 1930 on 12 March, Mahatma Gandhi started salt March from Sabarmati ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi alongwith his 78 followers to protest against British Salt Law triggered civil disobedience against the salt laws by millions of people. The March lasted for 385 days resulted in abolition of British Salt Law.
A right quantity of salt always make the food sweet and salty & lessen the bitterness and sternness. It is the most common and widely used spice in all recipes except sweets.
The general use of salt is known long before records in history. Mention of salt dating back to around 2700 B.C. in the earliest known script on pharmacology was published in China.
In the prehistoric age processing of sea water to produce salt is evidenced in civilization of China, Egypt, and Rome. The process was evaporation of sea water or brine under Sun to dry.
It's very interesting to know the fact that salt is an essential material for human muscles' relaxation and contraction. it also maintain minerals and water balance in human body. Our body requires 1750 mg (1.75g) of sodium everyday for this important function. That's why doctors examine our blood for sodium.
But how did the salt in human body come from before invention of salt. It was supplied from the meat they eat. As agriculture started they get same test of salty flavour of meat in vegetable also which they thought may be due to sea water.
What do These Terms on Food Labels Really Mean

What is a salt marinade
When salt dissolved in water, it breaks into Sodium and Chloride ions. Both are very tiny radicals to penetrate into chiken or meat very quickly. The Sodium ions season the chicken while the chloride going to go in and prevent the protein contracting during coocking keeping that chicken juicy.
It hard to say exactly how much salt to add because that amount depend upon the amount of water and how much meat are there in the bowl. One may start with one teaspoon of table salt for every kg of meat.
How to make a salt dough which can be used for any kind of crafts. Take two cups of flour, one cup of salt and some hot water with some food colouring. Give it nice stir until the dough is formed.
Now any design upto half centimetres can be made. It can be dried in summer under the Sun or beaking it at 100-120 degree Celsius for two to three hours slowly. Finally one can varnish it for gloss.
Iodised salts helps in creating some hormones which regulates heart rate and blood pressure.
There are several amazing ways to add salty flavours in recipe without actually adding salt.
Salt has been seen associated with stomach cancer and heart issues. It also stimulates our saliva gland so one wants to eat extra food. So people have the habit of extra eating, they should avoid eating excess salt.
Again it absorbs and holds more water in body then it is going to put extra pressure on your heart, arteries and brain. Then it can lead to things like heart attack, brain stroke and all types of kidney issues. It is really good idea to avoid added salt.
In late 1700s America used to import salt in large quantities from other countries, though there is now abundance of it.
As salt is toxic to microbes and don't contain water it never expires.
