Choices! What will it be? #33

As per the rules of contest I would like to invite my lady friends to participate in the contest @eveetim @ninapenda

My choice is Tent

While crossing Mayali Pass there were two important stop overs namely Masar Tall (lake) before pass and Vashuki Tall after the pass. In both the places one has to stay in Tent. We had three tents to pitch. I don't know what kind of tent it was. We just hired it from Bhoruka Mountaineering Association along with sleeping bags.

Tents have habitually been used by nomadic people all over the world, such as Mongolian, Native Americans, Turkic and the Bedouin, and Tibetan Nomads.

The word “tent” evolved from the Latin word tendere meaning “to stretch” – as in a piece of material stretched tightly across a frame. Tents are typically, but not always, thought of as movable shelters for a long time.

A tent is a protection consisting of sheets of fabric or other material covered over, attached to a frame of sticks or a supporting rope, a foldable shelter of fabric (such as canvas or nylon) stretched and sustained by poles and used for camping outdoors or as a temporary shelter. It is used as portable shelter and protects people from wind, rain and the cold climate.

If one has got a quality canvas tent, it should last for years, especially if one takes care of it well. With enough preparation and planning, one can not only live in a tent but live well.

Floors are a great protect you and your gear dirt free and dry as well as keeping rodents, bugs and reptiles outside of your tent. The floors come detached from one's main tent and simply lay over the dirt & grass or can be fasten into your main tent canvas.

As much as 40 square feet per person suggested by experienced campers, although 30 can be considered. While smaller kids will evidently take up less space,

They help you sleep in peace while camping and keep your hiking gear safe with you. They are like a second home when you are on a camp.

A tent assemble of a single wall of fabric. Traditionally, single-walled tents used some sort of sturdy waterproof, breathable fabric, almost exclusively used as mountaineering tents.

During one of my treking to Himalayas Garhwal range at Padatik Pass at a attitude of above 18000 ft we had to spend a night on permanent snow. Our tent was pitched at about 3 PM. There was no Water to drink. We had to melt ice to drink it. There were high altitude snow capped picks surrounding the spot. At about 4 Pm we heard of some clouds thunder wlightning. We all become scared of snow fall as our tent cannot withstand snow. However within a short span, entire surrounding was obstructed by a white dome envelope. We could see only upto a distance of few miles on all directions as a hemisphere. Technically it is called whiteout in mountains.

I don't want to share the nightmare we faced on that day. As our tent was inappropriate, I couldn't sleep due to cold and sever headache. At one point of time I felt as if I'm laying on ice slab in bare body. I put all my dresses and sat inside slipping bag on the folded matress. I was just waiting for early morning light to appear. Anyways it was God Grace that we all survived and finished rest of the treck.

Practically Alluminium tents are used by high altitude climbers to avoid collapse of tent by snow fall.
