As a cook, explain things that should and shouldn't be worn when cooking.

When cooking in the kitchen, safety, comfort, and hygiene are essential factors that helps us decide what should and shouldn't be worn.

Things You Should Wear:

  1. APRONS OR JACKETS: Protects your clothes from stains and splatters.

  2. NON-SLIP, CLOSED TOE SHOES: This is very essential to prevent slips and protect your feet from falling objects or spills.

  3. COMFORTABLE, WELL-FITTING CLOTHING: Wear clothing loose enough to help you move freely, but not too loose that it could catch on anything.

  4. HAIR NET, HAT OR BANDANA:
This helps, keep your hair away from food and prevents it from falling in during cooking or serving.
It what can be very uncomfortable seeing one's hair inside a plate of food

  5. MINIMAL JEWELRY: If possible, small pieces like stud earrings are fine, but avoid anything dangling or large.

Things You Shouldn't Wear:

  1. LOOSE, FLOWING SLEEVES or CLOTHING: These can catch fire or get caught in equipment.

  2. OPEN-TOED SHOES or SANDALS: They expose your feet to burns, spills, and falling objects.

  3. DANGLING JEWELRY: Long necklaces, bracelets, or rings can pose a hygiene risk and could get caught in equipment.

  4. SYNTHETIC FABRICS:
Fabrics like polyester are flameable, they can melt if exposed to heat and are less breathable than most natural fibers like cotton.

  5. STRONG PERFUMES or COLONGES:
Strong scents or perfumes can interfere with the food’s aromas and may also irritate coworkers who are allergic in a small kitchen space.

Explain what you understand by kitchen etiquette.

Kitchen etiquette refers to the set of guidelines and behaviors that help maintain a respectful, efficient, and safe working environment in the kitchen. It ensures smooth operations, promotes teamwork, and prevents accidents or conflicts. it typically includes:

1. Teamwork
2. Cleanliness and Hygiene
3. Proper Food Handling
4. Efficiency
5. Safety

Good kitchen etiquette helps create a professional, productive, and harmonious environment, essential for running an efficient kitchen.

People say, "it is good to have a meal timetable, it helps you eat a balanced meal. What do you think about it? Do you have a meal timetable?

Well having a meal timetable can be very helpful for maintaining a balanced diet. It actually encourages planning ahead, which can help ensure that you're getting a variety of nutrients from different food groups, rather than just eating what's convenient. It also helps with portion control and timing, keeping your energy levels steady throughout the day.

Personally, I don't have a meal timetable, due to culture and background, i wasn't trained to but I plan on trying it out.

Is eating at midnight a good habit, yes/no. State your
reasons.

No, eating at midnight is generally not a good habit, here are some reasons:

  1. Indigestion: Eating late at night can interfere with your digestive process, as the body's metabolism slows down during sleep.

  2. Weight Gain: Studies suggest that late-night eating may increase the risk of weight gain and bloating since the calories consumed are less likely to be burned off.

  3. Poor Sleep Quality: The indigestion or acid reflux, caused by eating late disrupts sleep.

  4. Hormonal Imbalance: Late-night eating can affect hormones like insulin, leading to blood sugar spikes and potentially increasing the risk of conditions like diabetes. That said, if you're hungry late at night, it's better to opt for a light, healthy snack rather than heavy food

What is the first thing to take when you wake up in the morning? Why do you take

Water; my Dad taught me this, although i didnt know the benefits as at my young age,but with time, through study and research and personal observations, i realized the benefits of taking water first thing in the morning. Some of which inlclude:

  1. Hydration: After hours of sleep, your body is naturally dehydrated. Drinking water helps replenish fluids lost overnight.

  2. Boosts Metabolism: A glass of water can kickstart your metabolism, helping the body burn calories more efficiently throughout the day.

  1. Flushes Toxins: Water helps flush out toxins that have built up in the body overnight, aiding in digestion and kidney function.

  2. Aids Digestion: Water prepares your digestive system for the day, promoting smoother bowel movements and reducing the risk of constipation.

  3. Improves Skin Health: Hydration is essential for skin health, and drinking water in the morning can contribute to a healthier complexion.

  4. Boosts Brain Function: Proper hydration enhances , focus, and alertness, helping you feel more awake.

And the list goes on and on,taking water every morning is a part of me and all thanks goes to my dad for this beautiful enlightenment.
