Narmin Aslan:

MARRIED

At first, it felt like destiny had woven our paths together in the most enchanting way. Every moment spent together seemed like a fairy tale unfolding before our eyes, a love story written in the stars. But as time went on, the cruel hand of fate revealed its true intentions, leading us down a path filled with heartache and despair.

I remember the first time our eyes met, amidst the hustle and bustle of a religious event. It was as if the universe itself had conspired to bring us together, but fate had other plans. Our initial encounter was fleeting, a mere glimpse of what was to come.

It wasn't until she visited my city with her family for another religious gathering that we finally made contact through a mutual friend. Despite the distance between us, we forged a connection that transcended miles and boundaries. We communicated through letters, telegrams, and even through a makeshift system to bypass the exorbitant cost of long-distance calls.

I would travel tirelessly to her city, my heart yearning for her presence, but our love was not without obstacles. Rumors and gossip plagued our relationship, fueled by jealousy and insecurity. I confronted the whispers head-on, willing to defend our love against any who dared to question its authenticity.

Despite the challenges we faced, our bond only grew stronger with each passing day. In the eyes of our community, we were a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of love to overcome adversity. But behind closed doors, we grappled with our own demons, fighting against forces beyond our control.

There were moments of doubt, moments when the weight of the world threatened to tear us apart. But through it all, we clung to each other, finding solace in the warmth of our embrace. For in a world filled with uncertainty and pain, having someone to share the burden makes all the difference.

Yet, as the years passed, our love story took a tragic turn. Illness crept into our lives like a thief in the night, stealing away the happiness we had fought so hard to build. Despite our best efforts, we were powerless to stop the inevitable, watching helplessly as the light slowly faded from her eyes.

In the end, all we had were memories, fragments of a love that once burned bright against the darkness. And as I stood by her side, watching her slip away, I realized that sometimes, even the strongest love is not enough to defy fate's cruel hand.

Now, as I wander through the remnants of our once vibrant love story, I am left with nothing but the echoes of her laughter and the ache of her absence. For in this world of fleeting moments and shattered dreams, some loves are destined to end in tragedy.
