Introduction

Salt! I wonder if there's any human who can do without salt in his or her meal. Or should I ask if there's anyone who haven't tasted salt? I doubt if there's such human who intentionally says he or she doesn't need salt in their meals, except for medical reasons.

It feels good to participate in #choices after about 3weeks since I participated in the contest. Let's get to know how well we know about salt.

I've known salt to be used for for cooking, preservation, for baking and industrial use. But have you ever thought if there are types of salt? Yes there are types of salt which I never knew until I decided to research on it. Below are the common four types.

Types of Salt

  1. Table salt: This is sourced from salt mines but is refined after mining. It is commonly used in our homes.
  1. Kosher salt: This is a type of coarse-grain salt and not refined. It is also used in the home but the difference is that the kosher salt is less salty than the refined salt.
  1. Sea salt: This is an undefined salt that is sourced from the sea. It can be used for cooking just like the table salt.
  1. Coarse salt: This is a large grain salt crystal which can be both sea and mined salt.source

Importance of salt

The importance of salt cannot be overlooked, if not the Bible would not have likened Christians (the followers of Christ) as "the salt if the earth." Matthew 5:13.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."source

So, that is to say that salt;

✅ Adds value

✅ Makes a positive impact/effect

✅ Makes a difference

The question is, are you like the salt? How much value do you add to people's life? How do you affect your world? Are you a plus or a minus in the neighborhood where you live in? Have you ever thought of your relationship with others around you or in the society where you liveq? So many questions right?

Salt is that important that no one can do or live without it. Have you ever had a meal without salt? Did you enjoy it, was it tasty enough? I guess your answer would be a "NO!" That is how you and I are when we do not add value to our world, when we don't impact positively on anyone.

The last part of the Bible verse above says if salt lost it taste that it's food for nothing.

"It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot"

To be thrown under foot? You mean a man or woman without impact should be thrown under foot? This is rather too harsh if I may say. Think about this, do you want to be thrown under foot? How will you feel if you are being told to your face that you are "useless?" Pained right?

That's the reason why, you and I are called to add value, be like the salt. Be sought after, be that important that no one wants to do without you because of the value you've added, because of the joy you have brought.

Plenty of people eat meals without salt it lowers the bloodpressure. Salt makes me sick, although I slready have a low bloodpressure and low bodytemp.

I easily do 3 years with 1 kg of salt and if I use lo-salt - less salt + iodine added to it.

Great to know you read through, it's understood some people reduce the intake or stops the intake of salt due to medical reasons.

I really appreciate your valuable time and comment.

I always liked salty food above sweet, I'm not a sweet tooth, but rarely used salt.
A few years ago a doctor said I should but it made me nausous so he said I should stop.

A few weeks ago I noticed the same after eating half a bag of salty 'drop' (dutch candy) it was the first time I experienced that. I drank 2 days a lot of water(at keast 4 liters if not more) to pee it out. I checked it a few days later again with a few same result. :(
