Introduction

Hello, great steemians.

I'm excited about this great contest organized by Steem for ladies community.

Women are great set of people and in no wise should be underrated. Many years ago women are seen to have no contribution to the society. They are not given the opportunity to partake in any critical positions. It was generally believed that women's education ends in kitchen and hence, no need to train them.

Today, the story has changed. Women are now great pillars in the world. They have brought about positive impact to the world.

One of these women that has brought great impact in our world today is Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Do you want to know why i choose her amongst others? You will have it all in just a minute read.

A woman in history

• The woman's background

Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is one of the women in history. I so much cherish her resilience and great effort. In a society where women are not regarded to have something tangible to offer to humanity, she steeped up and changed the narrative.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala hails from Ogwashi Ukwu in Delta State, Nigeria.
She was born on 13th June, 1954. This was an era where it is believed that women's education ends in kitchen. Nobody saw the need to put women through school and they were not regarded or believed to take role in leadership positions.

She was determined to make a difference and she took that great step of changing the narrative about women.

She went to school where she studied Economics. Today, she is a notable economist and this has taken her to a high position in and outside the country.

• The deed or deeds she has done

These are are notable achievements

YearpositionPresiding president
2003-2006Minister of financeOlesegun Obasanjo
2006Minister of foreign affairsOlesegun Obasanjo
2007-2011World bank Managing director for operationsYar' Adua
2011-2015Minister of financeGoodluck Jonathan
2021-Till dateGeneral director of world trade organisation-

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman to serve two times as finance minister in Nigeria.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is the first woman and first African to lead the World Trade Organization as Director-General. She is the 7th Director-General of World Trade Organisation.

She has achieved many other feats too numerous to mention.

• The reason for choosing her

I so much choose her because she has become a world changer and someone women will look upon in their bid to achieve greatness. Despite the discouragement that may come from different people in terms of leadership and assuming certain positions, this woman has created a good legacy for us to build upon.

• What you have learned from this woman

I have learned a lot from her.

I have learned that being a woman cannot stop me from achieving my dreams.

All i need to do is to be determined and focused in whatsoever i want to achieve. With hard work and consistency, i will surely achieve it.

No matter how people see things, what i see or say about myself matters a lot

I found out that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was born was education for women was not regarded and cherished. It was a time when women were believed to have no other work rather than becoming a house wife. She was determined to change the narrative through her life and today she has set a remarkable legacy for us. No matter what people or society said about us, what matters is what we say about ourselves. We should determine to do more.

I have also learned that hard work pays

I saw her to be a hard working woman. She keeps moving from one position to another because of her hard work. If she was sluggish in her positions, she wouldn't have had an opportunity to be taken into higher positions.

• Leave a positive message for the women in this community

Dear women, the life of this famous woman, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a great challenge to us. No matter anything, we should not allow our dreams die with us.

Many of us have great dreams which may not come easily. We should not in any way be discouraged by what we see. The rule for achievement says "Start". Let's just start somewhere and tomorrow we will see ourselves doing great things and breaking records.

I invite @okere-blessing @ruthjoe and @m-fdo

Me encantó. Te deseo suerte.
