The alluring emission of melodic Music tones from a large keyboard as a result of the action of striking strings with hammer. Using the fingers correctly, this instrument produces a good sound with the presence and usage of over 88 keys. Music in recent times, have been making use of this object/instrument in different genres. What could it be? It is a five letter word p-i-a-n-o.

A piano is a large keyboard musical instrument with a wooden or metallic case enclosing a soundboard containing string's that which when depressed by hammer, produces sounds.

This instrument is made up of white and black keys. These keys produces sounds when pressure is applied causing the immediate striking of strings. It is classified as string and percussion instrument, meaning the activities of the hand on the keys implies physical touch(percussion) while the striking of strings also defines it as a string instrument.

A Piano 🎹 has a total number of 88 keys. They consists of two colours which are popularly white and black. There are 56 white and 32 black keys on a piano therefore, the knowledge a pianist will have on musical key notes and the proper use of the keys is incredible.

The first Piano was invented in the early 18th century by Bartolomeo Cristofori of Italy. This invention came after the existence of similar string instrument like the harp and other instrument like the pipe organ. The technique used on this sole invention was the production of sound when the strings were being hit with a hammer. This 🔨 hammer is said to be described casually as one but is simply a connection between the keys, a metal and a the strings.

In the early 18th century, as the trends of romantic music became known all around the world, piano was hence bent to receive new and affordable sizes for it major use in music.

1. Grand Piano: As the name implies, grand, it is a large type of piano that has horizontal strings and Keys which is always supported on three legs. It is mainly used for recording music and events with highly skilled pianist. It is expensive and has a good taste if sounds and key control
2. Upright Piano: The opposite of the grand piano. It frame, strings and keys are faced vertically (position straight up). It emits good sound also.
3. Electronic Piano (Digital Piano): Anything digital is obviously convenient to use. An electronic Piano is a keyboard that is primarily designed to serve as alternative to the traditional accoustic piano both the Grand and upright Piano. It is less in weight, mostly looks like the grand and upright Piano and sometimes doesn't have a stand or frame.

The idea and use of piano has impacted the music society. Having greatly influenced every music in the western world, it became staple in classical music accomplishing the expression of it potentials. It has found it was into other genre of music such as jazz, blues, rock and pop.

A music student or musician does actually know what the piano is used for; songwriting, solo performances composing songs and rehearsals. Aside the uses, research has proven that playing the piano comes with a number of benefits with the mental health inclusive. They are'
