A grape is a fruit that is non-climacteric, and customarily exist in clusters. Grapes are characterized as non-climacteric because they have the potential of ripening evolution that do not strictly rely on the possible addition of a gas called ethylene and a related rise in respiration value. Grapes are of different colors ranging from red, green, black, yellow, pink and purple. The cultivation of grape started at about 8,000 years ago. The middle east is described as the homeland of grapes. This fruit as been made available as source of food to human benefits over time. It can be eaten fresh or even dried. In some parts of the world, grapes holds cultural importance, especially for their role in making wine and other products. It is known for it's high nutritional content with water as the highest.

What are the types of grapes?

What are the basic uses of grapes?

Grapes are used for mainly two important purposes.

  1. Grapes are used as food. As history made it clear since the cultivation of grapes since 8,000 years ago in the middle east, it has been used as food for human. Most grapes can be eaten fresh or dried. Grapes also have a great use in festivals and ceremonies for it's part of raw material for the production of wine. Other types of grapes are used to add flavor to food and salads because of its high nutritional value.

  1. Grape has played a major role in the medical field. Medical experts, have confirmed grapes to have the ability to prevent and regulate some health conditions. This is due to the presence of vitamin C, E, K and the rest of them. This fruit has been able to help prevent cancer, preserve the mental functionality, improve bone health, protect against diabetes and heart diseases, reduces high cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, improve sleep and slow down aging.

Grapes has clearly influenced our healthy lifestyle. If you haven't had a taste of it, go and get it, eat adequately to improve your health. As it helps to slow aging, I'd love to take more.

What is the economic Importance of grapes?

As per my research, grapes is ranked the world's third most cherished horticultural crop after tomatoes and potatoes in 2019. It's calculated that grapes has been used in the whole world for (I) wine making,(78%) (ii) raisin making (15%) (iii) table grapes (7%). Job created with the aid of the fruit crop (grape) is about 5,281 and a total of financial estimate of over $1 billion USD.

Thank you for reading. I hope you've learned something from me about grapes with the little knowledge I have and research carried out.

I invite @bettymikki and @slimmama
