The Diary Game #34: A trip to plant Cassava
In this season anyone that does not farm must be very rich because the price of things has gone up the roof lately. Garri which is the most popular staple food in our country is now very expensive. Garri is made from cassava and it is better to plant it than buy.
But going to the farm on the first day of the month was not something I was happy about. This is because I have an upcoming exams I'm preparing for abd I don't want distraction.
Now let me tell you how my day went in the farm.
I woke up to my dad calling me and shouting about the fact that I am still sleeping. I sighed, another day, another hustle. So I got up before they will come into my room with a cane to wipe me.
As we all know, over here in Nigeria, it's the planting season and everyone is going to their farms to plant different things like yams, maize, potatoes, etc. So my family had decided we would all go together to the farm today to plant cassava. The land had been cleared earlier and burnt to prepare it for the new plants. To be honest I'm not a fan of farm work, but when your parents propose; who exactly are you to oppose?
Cleared farm
We left the house after having breakfast and I made sure to pack extra food so that I'll not go and faint in that farm.
We got there and while our portion was shared for planting, my dad told me to cut the stems of the cassava because that's what is used to plant.
It had been long I worked like that and I just longed to go back to school at that moment. I was tired so I left to relax my body a bit and of course eat. After relaxing I got the strength to continue, we had a target to finish everything before nightfall and with the rate we worked it worked out well.
Of course all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
I took another break to play with people around
The whole process was fun and stressful. At this point my legs where looking like I entered mud
