Cooking Contest || Week-09 || Prove yourself as the Best Ladies Chef on the Steemit Platform

The dish which I have prepared and would be talking about, is **porridge Yam. ** Yam is one of my favorite meals and I enjoy eating it. So today I will show you how I prepared my porridge with vegetables.
The name of the meal I have made this week is **Porridge yam with vegetables. I chose this dish because it is one of my favorite dishes.
Also, yam is very nutritious and good for us. Yam is a rich source of carbohydrates, which gives us energy for our work and every activity.
Porridge yam when prepared also contains all the essential elements we need to be healthy. There is fat and oil from the oil used, as protein from the fish and crayfish.
It is rich in magnesium, and potassium from the green vegetables used.
Below are the ingredients needed to prepare it.
- A tuber of Yam
- Spinach or green-leaf vegetable
- Red oil
- Dried fish
- Crayfish
- Maggi
- Pepper
- Onion
- Salt
- Water
✅The first thing to do is to please the yam.
It can be divided horizontally or vertically for easy peeling.
✅After peeling the yam, the next step is to cut the yam into smaller sizes for easy softening when cooking. When you are done with the peeling, wash the yam clean with water and add it to your clean pot.
✅Add water to the pot of yam. The water should not cover the yam. It should just be moderate because yam doesn't take long to get soft. Therefore, the water shouldn't be much.
✅Next, wash your vegetable leaves and slice them. After slicing it, keep it aside.
✅Now, put on your stove, gas cooker, or whatever. Place the pot of yam on it. Allow to heat a little, then you can add your salt to taste, Maggie, pepper, crayfish, fish, onion, and oil. Stir it to mix the ingredients very well.
✅Cover the pot and allow it to cook for some minutes for the yam to get soft.
Don't allow the yam to overcook and be too soft.
✅When the yam is soft, add your vegetable leaf and stir it very well.
✅After 2 minutes, bring down the pot, and don't allow the leaf to overcook.
The food is now ready and can be dished onto a plate and allowed to cool a bit before eating.
In my locality yam is now very expensive. So I bought only the yam for 900 naira which is 3 Steems.
I bought oil, crayfish, Maggie, pepvegetablestable, and onion.
Everything I bought amounted to 1,500 Naira which is 5 Steems.
