It has teeths but can't bite. Its teeths are used to resonate sounds and are always clean. You don't need to brush it. These figurative teeths are called keys and are 88 in number. These keys have no door and aren't placed on the floor. How fortunate.? I've been craving to tamper with its teeths but can't because I don't know how the teeths are shaped as they can produce loud and sweet sounds. What could this be? If you guess right, it's the piano, fondly called keyboard.

What is a piano?

A piano has all those descriptions I made but it's a musical instrument that produces sound by striking its strings with hammers and also using fingers to produce sounds when placed on its 88 keys. This piano are stretched over a wooden soundboard that resonate vibrations produced when these strings or keys are struck. The keys on the piano consist of 52 white keys and 36 black keys, each with different functions. In the artistry world, it's more than just an instrument. It's a pathway to a world of creativity, emotions and profound feelings of which its keys continues to captivate, inspire and reminds us of the magnificent and enduring power of music.

In the 18th century, harpsichord and clavichord were used to accomplish the purpose of producing melodious sounds and music that inspires the heart and move souls. It was later replaced during the 19th century with the now known piano which is either electrical or digital.

Most musicians capitalize on it to produce beats for their songs. It's usually used by all churches and music department in producing and echoing songs. Without the piano, music would be partly called a dead entity.

How do piano produce sounds?

Piano sounds works on the principle of mechanics and acoustics. I can remember being taught this in physics, a science course which points out to the fact that piano is a musical instrument that has method of propagation or material medium through which sounds are produced. How does it work then with these principles?

  • When a pianist presses a key on the keyboard, it produces a sound and sets off a chain reaction. Each and every key on the keyboard is connected to a system of hammers levers that are struck when such occurs

  • Inside the piano are sets of string which are hit by a wooden or plastic hammer when these keys are pressed.

  • When the hammer or lever strikes the strings, vibrations are produced which are transmitted to a wooden diaphragm called the soundboard seen in most digital keyboards.

  • This soundboard resonates and amplifies the sound adding richness to the tone after being vibrated.

  • The Thickness and tension of the string determines the pitch of the note while the thickness and quality of the soundboard adds value to the piano's timbre and tonal quality

  • Dampers rest against the strings and are used to control the duration of the sound. When a key is pressed on the keyboard and released, the damper lifts which allows the strings to vibrate about freely.

Types of Piano

There are different types of pianos, one based on electrical, one characterized differently and the other digitally based. These are;

  • Grand Piano: These are pianos used by professional pianists and also in concert halls. Their strings run horizontally which allows for greater resonance. It's highly prestigious and the best among all pianos.

  • Upright piano: These pianos are used in schools and homes with vertical strong arrangement which are highly suitable for learning and practicing as it's not that big compared to the first.

  • Digital piano: This piano is known for its versatility and convenience. They offer additional features like headphone jacks and a wife range of instrument sounds. It's also portable and ideal for musicians who tend to travel with it to perform in different locations. They are also affordable and doesn't have high maintenance cost.
  • Electric piano : Are often associated with pop and rock music which has fewer keys than the acoustic pianos.

My experience using a keyboard or listening to sounds

When I first laid my hands on a keyboard, I felt emotions. I tried producing beats using the keys but unfortunately, I ended up making noise not until I used thisDRMFSLTD.....notes in playing. As a novice, I couldn't play any song. I had to continuously tap on the keys until I heard the nursery rhyme Are you sleeping. I was so happy I could come up with something. Even my roommates were happy with me as well.

In conclusion, piano isn't just an instrument that produces sounds. It stirs emotions. I can remember when I first heard the instrumentals of perfect. My heart melted. Asides other instruments used in aiding sounds, piano is actually the best for me and i may use it in my wedding to play an emotional song with my wife. 😂

Awwwn!
I love your opening. It looked more like a riddle, one an African grandparent would most likely share under the moonlight. The thing about pianos is that it is just so irresistible. Its sounds are mellifluous and sweet to the ears.

This is my face now while reading your conclusion 😁
