Marriage; A Beneficial Union.

I am delighted to be here today, I believe you all are doing fine, I want to share my thoughts on the topic: MARRIAGE

First of all, what is marriage?

Simply put, Marriage is the union of two adults, the coming together of a man and a woman in matrimony. This union must be legalized culturally and socially. The man and the woman will establish a relationship that is not contractual but consensual, and they will be called spouses.

BENEFITS OF MARRIAGE

1. AVENUE FOR REARING CHILDREN: Marriage gives a man and a woman the privilege of giving birth to legitimate kids who are accepted in the society. But in some cases, young girls do give birth to kids out of wedlock which will make the children to be illegitimate in the society.

2. FORM OF COMPANIONSHIP: Marriage helps husband and wife to find companionship in each other, they establish a relationship that allows them to be free with each other, with this relationship they will be able to share their problems, share their joy, and plan their life together. The man and the woman will not be as lonely as when they were singles.

3. IT LOWERS THE RISK OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES: Marriage is a union in which a man will have only one sexual partner which is his wife and a woman will have only one sexual partner which is her husband. They will enjoy sexual relations between themselves as such there will be no sexually transmitted infections because there are no multiple sexual partners.

4. IT WILL GIVE ROOM FOR MORE INCOME EARNING: Marriage will help two people who are working to be able to take care of the family bills without stress because the money is coming from both ends.

5. IT WILL MAKE TAKING CARE OF THE CHILDREN EASIER:Marriage allows the caring for children to be more easier, the discipline of the children will be from two ends and will make their growing up more meaningful.

FORMS OF MARRIAGE

1. Traditional marriage/Customary marriage

2. Statutory marriage

3. Religious marriage

TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE/Customary Marriage : This is the type of marriage that the traditional rite of any culture is being performed. In this type of marriage, the intending couple will visit the bride's family and pay the dowry, they will seek the consent of both families, when they come into agreement, the parents of the bride will give their blessings and the parents of the groom will give their blessings too.

2. STATUTORY MARRIAGE: In this type of marriage, the couple will go to the court and register their marriage so that their marriage will be recognized by the law.

3. RELIGIOUS MARRIAGE: This is when the couple will seek their blessings from God so they will go to their church and seal their union with the help of a pastor or anybody that has authority by the law

Marriage is the union of a man and a woman in matrimony, this union comes with benefits; faithful spouses have no risk of contracting STD( sexually transmitted diseases), enjoy beautiful companionship from each other, and have beautiful kids if they want to. Marriage can be contracted through various forms, such as; customarily, statutorily, or religiously. Whichever form one chooses to contract his/her marriage is up to him/her but at times what is locally accepted matters, therefore one should choose a form of marriage that is accepted by his/her locality.

(1):Some persons choose to stay single, and the author of this article respects their decisions. Some choose their spouses from among members of the same sex, the author did not define marriage from that perspective because of her Biblical beliefs, they are respected.
