It kills, it causes injury and it causes illness, what's that? It's called POISON. @patjewell I really appreciate you for organizing this weekly contest consistently. I'm happy to participate in the Choices! What will it be? #47 contest and my choice for this week is option number two which is POISON.

Poison is a harmful substance causing injury, sickness, possibly death. It comes in various forms like chemicals, animal venom, plants. Despite common perception, even certain beautiful animals are believed to be poisonous. Most people when they hear about poison they think it's a chemical or substance applied in food for humans or animals for quick death. Poison as a word is far more than that.
Talking about the beautiful animals. I'm sure you're always impressed by the beauty of butterflies, its design, and its colors? It's always eye catching especially when it's on a plant sucking. If possibly you're with a camera you'll take photo of it. But come to think of it, did you know that some of these delightful and beautiful creatures such as butterflies are believed to be poisonous?

According to my research there's this poisonous species of butterflies by the name "the monarch caterpillar". This species of butterflies are very deadly and toxic because of were they get their food from which is on the toxic milkweed. It's so toxic, deadly and poisonous to the extent that if a bird swallows it and don't vomit it out immediately, the bird will be poisoned by their venom and probably death.

We humans can be a poison to ourselves, how? There's what we call slow poison which is stress. I'm sure you hear most people say "Don't get yourself worked out or stressed out to the extent of falling sick". Remember poison includes falling sick and the likes of them, so if we're stressed it'll create a path or lead to infections diseases which can probably kill and can also suppress our immune system.
Please don't quote me wrong, stress doesn't make you sick, it'll only increase the risk of falling sick because of what it's doing to your immune system. To alleviate this slow poison which is stress, we should do everything possible to set aside time for good sleep, worry-free and stress-free moments. Some ailments that's linked to stress which is poisonous includes flu, depression, diarrhea etc.

Have you heard of Lead poison? Lead poisoning can be contaminated by consuming products as jewelry, toys and the likes of them. Lead poisoning is very dangerous and deadly to humans especially young children which their Central nervous system is still developing. Young children eat and chew toys bought for them which is very poisonous and can probably lead to untimely death.
In some parts of Latin America, lead-glazed materials causes lead poisoning deaths because the food and drink are mostly prepared in a glazed ceramic which can easily contaminate lead poison because of the substance and materials used in the preparation of the food and drinks. This lead-glazed ceramic when used may not kill instantly, but it'll lead to infections diseases and at last death itself, that's poison of course.
Poison is not just what we watch in movies whereby powdery substance will be spread on food or drinks for someone to die within few minutes, it is far more than that. Like I said earlier, we can be a poison to ourselves and poison can be contaminated through animals, plants, object used in preparation of food and drink such as glazed ceramic, etc. We should be cautious of what we take into our body system because that is the only tips that will help alleviate poison.

When poison is ingested, inhaled, or absorbed, it can cause death or illness because it is a harmful substance. Therefore, if you have been exposed to poison, it is best to seek medical attention right away.
You're right there @senehasa. Poison is very dangerous when taken into our body system, like i said in my post we can be a poison to ourselves depending on the kind of food and drinks we consume. Thanks so much for checking on my post .

Exactly big mom, see how little and beautiful it is with a very dangerous venom inside it. I've done so many research regarding this butterflies and to be honest they're beautiful outside but very dangerous and poisonous inside. Thanks for the Goodluck wishes @patjewell

Stress is truly a slow poison. It's true that whenever anyone heard of poison his/her mind will straight to food/drink poison leaving some very poisonous substances behind.
I've learned from this post, I never knew the butterfly with its beauty can be poisonous.
Talking about lead poison, I'll be more careful with my kids and what they play with. It's feels good reading your post.
