Hello and welcome to my blog. It’s choices and what will it be and today am writing on hotel.

I have been privileged to work in a hotel and so must say that hotels are great facilities. I used to have a very bad notion about hotels until I got to work there as a Guest service agent or what people popularly call a receptionist. It was my first official job during my national youth service corp year in my country.

In my lay definition, a hotel is a place of rest and temporary stay for tourists or travelers in a city. The hotels are buildings built for the comfort of the people who come around to lodge in them for a certain price stipulated by the owners. Hotels are business outlets built majorly for profit making purposes.

The people who built it put in facilities like a room which contains a bed, some chairs, tables and any other thing which could make the guest feel at home according to the standard of the rooms.

The hotels usually have different room categories and the accessories in this rooms are base on the price of the rooms. Meaning the more accessory a room has, the more its price.

When I worked in the hotel the room categories were;

• The deluxe room being the lowest and cheapest
• The executive deluxe which is the second
• The suite which is the third and
• The forth category is the executive suite.

The accessories in these rooms differ and the room sizes too and so does their prices. The guests gets to lodge according to their budget and during weekends, we give the rooms at discounted prices to encourage more patronage.

There are a lot of services rendered at the hotel such as room service where the guest gets to get whatever they want delivered to their rooms and this attracts extra charges.

There’s the restaurant service where the guests gets to order the food they want to eat and it’s prepared for them and delivered to their rooms. There are different foods to eat and they get to make their choices.

There’s the bar service where the guest can order for drinks and there’s a sit out bar too. There are different kinds of drinks sold at the bar.

The part of the services I love more is the swimming pool side service. There’s a swimming pool in the hotel where the guests can come down to swim at their leisure. The swimming pool is open to people who are not guests in the hotel but they would have to pay to swim at the pool.

They’re also laundry services available at the hotel. The laundry services helps to wash the clothes of the guests, dry them and iron them. This they get at a token too.

There are different categories or ratings of hotels depending on the type of services they render. These ratings range from 1 star to five star hotels. Do you know that there are hotels you get into and they don’t lack anything, it’s like a world on its own.

Like everything you need is literally in there from restaurants, to bar, swimming pools, laundry, supermarkets, boutiques, and some even have banks in the hotel. These hotels are called five start hotels and their lodging prices runs into thousand of dollars.

The running of these facilities requires adequate staffing like receptionists, cooks, bar and restaurant attendants, laundry men and so many mangers to over see the staff. It’s really a Herculean task running a hotel but it’s worth it supposing there’s good management.

The hotel facility is a very nice place for one to stay in on entrance into a new environment. When next you get into town, ask or look up for a good hotel and relax.
