RE: Censored Versus Uncensored Blockchains: Can Both Succeed?

Hey, @taskmaster4450.

I have to agree with your assessment of the masses. I think there have been plenty of folks who were around STEEM saying that kind of thing, along with those who were actually doing it (the latter seem to outweigh the former).

The answer to all of this 'spam' and 'sharing' of 'unoriginal' content was to basically pound it into the ground (and sometimes by others who were essentially doing the same thing to 'make their point'). Realistically, I don't know how you battle the vote pharmers with their many alt accounts without downvotes. The user with one account that wants to share content like they always have on Twitter and Facebook, though—those folks are a part of the masses we keep hearing about.

Personally, economics should take over for the most part, even if that includes the downvoting to some degree. There is a value proposition—and if there are enough folks finding value in a much shared meme that they haven't seen or is somehow being expertly deployed in context, so be it. The market speaks. By and large, though, I believe original, whatever it be, ultimately wins out over the shared content. And if people see that, than they're more likely to stop sharing and either find ways to create or be content with curation, because they might make more that way.

We just don't seem to have a whole lot of patience when it comes to anything, so we don't allow things to play out like they naturally would, given time.

You bring up the main point: ultimately economics is going to take over. Crypto-economics can offer a great deal to humanity yet there still needs to be a lot ironed out. Over the next couple years, we will see different experiments being conducted.

As for the Steem or Hive, we will see how it all pans out. It will be fun to watch.
