The rate of corruption is the country is alarming and destructive to its citizens. It is an epidemic that has shown no sign of reducing rather it is increasing. It is everywhere, from the lowest sector to the higher sector.
What is bribery and corruption?
Corruption is the dishonest handling of an administration that involves fraudulent actions being taken for the benefit of those in power.
Bribery is the giving or receiving something with the intention to give or receive a reward for the gift that has been exchanged.
Corruption has eaten deep into the affairs of the administration of the nation. It is everywhere, in politics, church, school, health sectors, and even at home.
Why is it common?
Corruption is like the corona virus pandemic, it spreads faster than anything and Nigeria is not exempted. One major reason it is common is because of greed, everyone wants the national moi-moi, the want to partake in the public cake.
That is why it is common to hear that a tortoise swallow certain millions of money and nobody is surprised.
How bribery and corruption happens in my city, state, or country?
➡️In the universities, it is now optional compulsory to sort (settle) a lecturer. Now, you see a student who has not attended lectures for even up to 3 times, coming out with perfect results. It is alarming to be honest. We stress ourselves to read all through the night, while someone who did not even open their books scale through by giving the lectures a #5,000 - #10,000 fee to the lecturer to give them good score.
➡️The situation of male lecturers harass and threaten female students to sleep with them or risk failing in their courses.
The case of audio salary. Every worker deserves their wages but in our case, we deserve nothing. It is not unusual to hear over the radio that they have paid salaries but in reality they have not. ➡️Workers are owned for months only to be paid 1 month out of 6 months, if they complain, they will be told to use the one they even got because they don’t know when they will receive another.
➡️Non –academic staff demanding for money or favors before they can carry out their duties for you. In my school we call it *going express, in certain offices, the staff will tell you to drop some cash not less than 500 before they will attend to you, if you don’t, you are likely to stand there for hours without getting anything done.
Why is it wrong for public office holders to get involved in bribery and corruption?
The effect of bribery and corruption tells on the masses, the poor people rather those in power and the rich.
➡️Lose sight of their goals. Before anyone is elected into power, manifestos are read. You will hear ’I will do this, I will do that’ but once they get into that seat and bribery and corruption takes over, they lose focus of the promises they once promised to do.
➡️Poverty: The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer. When the money that should be used to take care of the masse is used to bribe officials for favor.
➡️Public office holders should not be involved because it affects the employment rate. Over 1 million of graduates enter the labor market every year, I inclusive but then we hardly get jobs because corruption is now the order of the day. Some offices barely employ based on merit but to those who are ready to for it in cash or kind or if you have certain connections.
What should be done to public office holders that get involved in bribery and corruption?
First before we can fight corruption we need to understand the value of transparency. All units should involve in checks and balances, look out for each other and report any funny business.
For office holders who get involve in bribery and corruption, you call them to order, inform them of the consequences of their actions and whatb ot could result to. For some, they will change but for those that will not change, relieve them of their duties.

Bribery is one of the things we need to fight against, now there are people who bribery for everything, and the can't do without it.
Corruption is a problem in many countries, and it's not always clear what the best way to fix it is. One way to stop corruption is by offering rewards for honest behavior. This can be done by giving the honest person some type of prize or gift, or by offering a cash reward
Yes dear and it is very annoying heree in our city,students in the University no longer go to lecture but at the end they will come out with excellent result.
This bribery and corruption needs to be stopped.

This is very true. To get a job now requires paying some special fees to the employer, or having a 'connection', someone already inside the organization who will push your application and give it a favorable recommendation. Sometimes, female applicants must accept abuse in order to be given the opportunity. This is really sad and should not be a norm.
Checking Post Quality
It is a global problem. It has defied solutions to fix it. It is worrisome to read about corruption is the tertiary institutions where lecturers sale marks for sex or exchange marks for money. Female students also offer sex for marks. It has become a way of life. It is a two way thing. The future of our country is in danger.
