Introduction

Depression is serious illness that has been proven medically to have some negativity on human, and this negativity affects how you act, how you feel and the way you think . The good thing is that it is treatable.Depression causes feelings of of sadness and loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. This may result in some physical and emotional problems and capable of making one loss focus by functioning less that one should be.

Symptoms of depression

  • Feeling bad or having a depressed mood

  • Depression makes an individual loss pleasure in engaging in activities once enjoyed

  • Changes in appetite

  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much

  • loss of energy or increased fatigue

  • Feeling worthless or guilty

  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions

  • Thought of death or suicide

  • Agitation or severe anxiety/panic attack

Rick factors for depression

Several factors can play a role in depression which includes:

The Biochemistry in the human body: Certain chemicals in the human body may contribute to the symptoms of depression.

Genetic: Depression can run in families , for example if one identical twin have depression the other have a 70 percent chance of having the illness sometime in life.

Personality: individuals suffering from inferiority complex, low self esteem are easily overtaken by stress and this most times lead them into depression.

Environmental factors: exposure to violence, neglects, abuse or poverty can cause most people to fall into depression.

Ways to overcome depression without medication

  • find small ways to be of service to others,find personal meaning by serving something larger than yourself. Remember service does not have to be big to count

  • Focus on your achieving your goals as an individual, let it be your drive towards success.

  • Schedule pleasant activities or events

  • Exercise and eat right too

  • build health relationships, focus on people who lift you up

  • Maintaining a regular sleep schedule helps in reducing the risk of falling into depression

  • Engagement in activities that makes you happy

Conclusion

Depression can stripe an individual off so many things and so it is pertinent to constantly guide ourselves in order not to fall into depression

One thing about depression is that, it has solutions. I have been in that mood several times. But engaging in one thing or the other is the key to fight depression. Thanks for throwing more light on how to handle depression.

I had a depressed friend one time,it was really a struggle to help her get back on her feet. Thanks for the information

Getting to learnt all of these are very vital as the post is both informative and educative and your common depression can come from faces one of which , should be day stress and relative feeling of fatigue .

What a lesson, depression has even killed a lady I know of, she thinks of everything and want to get everything at the same time, when it not working, she begins to feel bitter with everyone around her. Thanks for sharing , I will work towards my own goals, eat right and do things that make me happy.
