Introduction

Since it’s avocado season, I decided to write this post in order to enlighten us more about the health benefits of avocado pear. In my locality, avocado pear is called “ube bekeh”.
Avocado is scientifically called persia americana and it belongs to the family Lauraceae in the plantae kingdom.
Avocados are mostly found in countries with tropical climates such as Mexico, and currently, Mexico produces the highest number of avocados.
Avocado pear has a spherical or egg shape and it is usually green and hard when unripe, then becomes very soft and purple when riped depending on the specie.
The avocado fruit is usually buttery and can be used to eat different foods including rice and bread, some people go as far as using it to sip garri.
Avocado fruit can be picked commercially while immature and sold in the market for the production of different cuisines.

Health Benefits of Avocado Pear

Study shows the following health benefits of eating avocado pear.

  1. Prevention of cancer
    Avocado pear contains compounds as well as carotenoids and phytochemical that help in the prevention of cancer. Constant consumption of avocado helps to prevent both breast, oral and throat cancers.

  2. Source of Nutrients
    Avocado serve as a high source of nutrients because it contains vitamins C, K, E, B6, magnesium, folate acid and riboflavin.
    It is also made up of beneficial fats which helps in the breakdown of carbohydrates and regulate blood sugar.

  3. Aids Digestion
    This fruit contains high amount of fiber and eating foods that contain fiber such as avocado pear helps to prevent contraction and support the digestive tract.

  4. Natural Removal of Toxins
    The fiber in avocado pear also helps to remove toxins through excretion. The fiber also promote good microbial health and maintain a healthy body balance.

  5. Prevention of Chronic Diseases
    Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease can be prevented because the fatty acids in avocado could help prevent them.
    The right intake of fiber can also prevent the risk of having diabetes and obesity.

  6. Antimicrobial Action
    Oil from avocado pear can be extracted and used to protect the body from infection.

  7. Decrease the risk of depression
    Studies have shown that avocado contains folate which helps to lower depression.
    Folate helps prevents the building up of substances capable of causing depression.

  8. Supports Fetus Health
    Folate found in avocado pear helps in the reduction of miscarriages and helps to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

  9. Helps the Eyes
    The phytochemical in avocado is also present in the eyes. They provide help in order to reduce the damage of the eyes.

  10. Good for the Heart
    Avocado has healthy cholesterol which helps to maintain the health of the heart.

Effect of taking Excess Avocado

Like they say, too much of everything is bad. Avocado contains high fat contents and as such, excessive intake of it may result to unwanted weight gain.

Conclusion

Aside health, avocado can also be used for salad. It can also be used as oil for cooking and moisturizing the skin.
Do well to locate the nearest fruit market and get yourself some avocados.

Avacadoes contains many health benefits, it's one of my best fruits and eat so many things. Thanks for telling us the efficacy of taking it much. I will now reduce my intake of avacadoes.
