Tell us the name of your city

The name of my city is Ilorin. Ilorin is the capital of Kwara State, a north central part of the country, it is the 7th largest city by population.

Ilorin operates on a good transport and you can enter a Taxi/keke as low as #50.

There are three medium of transportation within the city- taxis, commercial motorbikes "Okada", and commercial tricycles, popularly called "Keke NAPEP" or "Keke maruwa".
Ilorin taxis/keke are painted green and yellow.

The city is of varieties of cultures, populated by the Yoruba, Hausa, Baruba, Kanuri, Nupe,and Fulani tribes from across Nigeria, also foreigners too. Christian and Islamic religion has large populations, and many socio-cultural and ceremonial activities, mostly with religious aspects and culture, take place throughout the year in the city.

Ilorin has a friendly and peaceful environment and reason why it is called Home of Peace

Arts and Tourism

The city also has a range of tourist attractions such as the Sobi Hill, which offer protection during war time and also The Okuta Ilorin which is the stone one of the founders of the city used to sharpen his metal tools. For that reason, it was actually called "Okuta ilo irin" (meaning stone for sharpening metals). It is from this, Ilorin derived its name.

Education

Ilorin has two major universities namely, the University of Ilorin a federal government established and Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin which is a private owned institution. There is also Kwara State University within its metropolitan area. A certain Kwara polytechnique, Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin and also Kwara College of Arabic and Islamic Legal studies made the lists. There are several other privately owned colleges too.

How did you find yourself in that city

I found myself here because i was born here and lived here all my life. Completed my basic, secondary and in the penultimate level of the federal university in the state, university of Ilorin.

Do you intend to leave the city soon

God willing, i would be leaving for my NYSC service next year. So it is an opportunity for me to leave here and see some new places. I am curious😀

If you are given the choice, will you like to leave the city

I will get the chance next year and i am onlybonly looking forward to that.

There are a lot of big markets. Oja-oba(the king's market), Ipata market, Oja tuntun(the new market), Ago, Mandate, Kulende market and so on. Mandate as to be the biggest, don't really know sha

Golden Sands Hotel & Suites is located in Irewolede, Ilorin. There is Kwara hotels too and others. You will have a good time
