PROCRASTINATION, HOW TO QUIT THE KILLER HABIT BY @starnation.
Hello great people, here I am again today to share my thoughts in text. I trust you are safe from the recent mishaps in our country? Say you are behind closed doors and you are being interviewed about your personality, the interviewer points directly to this question "are you a goal setter/getter or a procrastinator"? What would you give as an honest answer?
Penning this article was partly triggered by an ordeal that my close buddy went through at a point in his life. I know he is not the only one who have been in such shoes, but today I can gladly tell you he owned up and is getting better than he was before.
The word procrastination has a Latin origin, it was coined from the Latin word Procastinatus which itself was gotten from the prefix pro meaning forward and crastinus meaning of tomorrow. Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing something. This piece of information I curled up from Wikipedia.

Now that we know what procrastination is, let's talk about why people breed such bad habit. One thing I have learnt about life is that whatever one holds dear, there is often a powerful and strong reason behind feeling of dearness. In a broader sense, procrastination anchors on such strong qualities such as confidence, motivation and comprehension. Here are some reasons why people procastinate ;
The fear of failure.
Poor organizational skills.
Lack of motivation.
low self esteem.
Inability to comprehend.
Undying perfectionism.
According to a research article published by the Business Insider Africa, there are four categories of procrastinators, which are as follows;The perform who often claims I work well under pressure, this type of person suffers from perfectionism and often decrease the time to complete a task in other to suite another person. The habit of putting oneself under pressure often will never survive the test of time.
The self-deprecator who claims I am so lazy right now,this type of person never admits he is tired and needs a break, he rather pushes the blame for his I actions to laziness.
The over booker who claims I am so busy, this category of person overwhelms himself by staking up tonnes of tasks. This further leads to them being in the habit of avoidance under the guise of I am too busy.
The novelty seeker who claims I just had the best idea,this person can be likened to kids and new toys. Kids will never hesitate to discard a toy upon sighting a new one. This person finds a new task this minute and he is greatly elated and enthusiastic, only to be seen in the next moment being bored by his new found love.
Having known these categories of persons, let's tackle the key aim of this write up which is enlisting the solutions to overcoming the messy habit. Here are some practical steps to take;

Envisage the consequences of not doing a particular thing, will it be beneficial or detrimental?
Have a breakdown of your to-dos, take it one step at a time. Rome they say wasn't built in a day.
Envisage the feeling of eureka that occurs when you achieve an aim.
Ask yourself will things turn out fine if I chose not to perform a task.
It's not weakness seeking for partnership, involve someone else in your task. Perhaps you are not self-motivated.
Pen down your plans and how to attain them, engage in a task you wish to accomplish more often not less..
In conclusion the act of procrastination affects one negatively in all key aspects of life, even with one's life here in steemit. I hope this piece helps someone out there today.
