The Electioneering Season is Here||Vote Wisely||(Burnsteem25)

Greetings to everyone here.I am sure we are all fine.Steemit has remained a medium to bring us together to share news, ideas and thoughts.I have learnt a lot through articles that I read here on Steemit.I am sure you have experienced such too.

Here in Nigeria,our general elections to elect the president,governors,senators,house of representatives,house of assembly and other positions will take place by february 2023.However,this month is for the primary elections which would enable political parties to produce a candidate that would fly the party flag in the general elections that would take place next year february.

As the primaries would start in the coming days although some parties commenced their's today.The various aspirants are moving from one place to another,one city to another and from one state to another inorder to canvas for votes and to buy the mind of the adhoc delegates.It is important to note that the primary elections are done by the adhoc delegates and not the general public.

I live in Abia state and the state is governed by the People's Democratic Party(PDP).The race for the successor of the outgoing governor is really getting hotter by the day.There are about nine (9) aspirants who are jostling to get party ticket and then emerge as the flag bearer of the PDP in state.

Among the seven governorship aspirants are senator Enyinnaya Abaribe,Ude Oko Chukwu,Ncheta Omerekpe, Prof Paul Ikonne and others.It was rumoured that the sitting governor of the state Gov Okezie Ikpeazu has anointed Prof Uchenna Ikonne as his successor-a situation that has angered the other aspirants.

There was a drama here in the state.Just a couple of hours to the governorship primary elections,four of the seven aspirants withdrew from the race.They said that they are aggrieved with the party position on the use of the 3-man delegate for the primary elections.They said that such act could make whoever emerges as the parties candidate to be disqualified by the electoral umpire (INEC) during or after the general elections come next year.

This means that a few aspirants were available for the primary elections which was held at the Umuahia township stadium.As I was still making the post.I got the news from a reliable source that the governorship primary elections has been completed and the result announced.The sitting governors preferred aspirant-Prof Uchenna Ikonne has emerged as the winner and would be the candidate of the PDP in the 2023 gubernatorial elections for Abia state, Nigeria.

Like I told you,there are other political parties in the state,they will also conduct their own primary elections to produce their governorship candidate.The other parties include but not limited to All Progressive Congress (APC),All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA),Young People's Party(YPP) etc.Within the next four days,the other political parties will conduct their primaries so that we can know the candidates for all the parties.

The general election is a time for every eligible voter to go to the polling unit and vote for the right candidates.We are tired of electing the wrong people,so this time we need to vote wisely and remember that whoever we elect will rule us for the next four years.
