The Human Blood Explained

in SteemAlive2 years ago (edited)
The body is made of a red liquid which we all know as blood. This flows out of the body when we are wounded, most especially, when we have a cut or scratch.

There is more to the literal blood we see.
This post is meant to educate us on the 4 major and most significant components of the human blood.

The Blood is a red liquid in the body of Humans and animals that carries out the transportation of nutrients to the needed parts of their bodies through the vessels of the circulatory system.
The Blood also carries out the waste products of the human body from parts where they are not needed.
This movement of the blood through is possible because of the pumping of the heart. As the heart pumps, Oxygenated blood is being carried from the heart by the arteries to the various parts of the body and then the veins completes the transportation to carrying the remains back to the heart where the movement resumes.
The process runs tirelessly throughout the days of every persons life on earth.

Components of the Blood

The Blood is made up of 4 major components as You'll See below:
The Plasma

This is the liquid part of the blood and the main component. It consists of protein, nutrients, ions, hormones, dissolved gases, mixed waste and most importantly Water. The Plasma is made up of 90% water and 10% other components. These other components like the ions and dissolved gases are necessary for the regulation of the body pH and osmotic balance.
The most important protein in the Plasma known as Albumin plays a very important role in getting this work done.
The Thrombocytes or Platelet

The Platelets are cell fragments in the blood and they are responsible for clotting. They are mostly attracted to wound sites. The platelets clot the skin in cases of injury to prevent excess overflow of blood. To do this, they form a fibrin that clots when any lining of the blood vessel is damaged.
The Leukocytes or White Blood Cells

These are the defenders of the body, they recognize and neutralize viruses, infections and bacteria's that want to get into the human body. They contain a nucleus and mitochondria. They are into two groups:

  • Granulocytes: These consists of the neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils. When viewed on a microscope, they have granules in the cytoplasm.
  • Agranulocytes: These consists of the monocytes and lymphocytes, when viewed on a microscope, they do not have granules in the cytoplasm.
  • The Erythrocytes or Red Blood Cells

The Red blood cell is different from the while blood cell because it does not have mitochondria or a nucleus.
The work of the red blood is to circulate through the body and deliver oxygen to tissues. In place of a nucleus, it has a hemoglobin which is another important protein for the circulation of oxygenated blood.
New red blood cells are being formed every 120 days in the bone marrow while the old ones are broken down in the liver.

    Conclusion

The Human blood is a very part of our life today and that is why it should not be overlooked. We need to be informed and well educated about our blood and always eat things that nourish and build our blood. Doing this, adds to our life span.

    Dear @sammylove,

You have done a proper research and a decent presentation.Blood remains a tool for transportation of oxygen in the body.Without it,we are lifeless. That could account to why God asked us to desist or abstain from indiscriminate use of blood. The white blood cells has been known to fight foreign bodies in our system.God is indeed Wonderful.
