Preamble
A friend could be someone other than a family member or spouse who's company we enjoy or an associate capable of showing affection and giving assistance. Many do make bad decisions when it comes to choosing friends and this may affect them negatively. I'll be narrating a true life story to illustrate the saying "Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are", get your popcorn while I drop the gist.
Bad company
There's this handsome young guy in his early twenties who lived down the street, he was just so calm, gentle and was known by all as a peaceful person. He was normally known by his nickname Antidote which fit him perfectly meanwhile his birth name was Abasi-ono meaning God's gift when translated in English.
Abasi-ono AKA Antidote had a childhood friend Sam, they grew up together and we're inseperable. Infact they were best friends and they flocked together, hence one never left the other's side. Sadly Sam joined a group of trending cult society known as the Black daggers. This cult group is the dreadest in my locality as its very fearsome and dangerous.
Since Antidote is already addicted to his best friend Sam, he couldn't withdraw from him. Their friendship was hard to break, hence they continued sticking to one another. Although Sam was trying to talk Abasi-ono into joining the cult group, Abasi-ono stood his ground and refused to be influenced by his best friend but what later happened will shock you.
Many came to the conclusion that since Abasi-ono still stuck to his friend Sam that maybe he has been fully initiated into the society as a verified member not knowing that Abasi-ono was actually innocent. I can remember vividly when armed forces raided our area due to the activities of this cult guys and arrested people randomly.
The result
Abasi-ono was arrested as well as someone had referred the forces to him saying he was one of them. He was harassed, molested and beaten to exposed his fellow cult members meanwhile he was innocent. It was only the pleas from family and close friends who knew him that he was granted bail out of the police custody.
After sometime, another cult group known as the Red devils had a serious argument and disagreement with the Black daggers which led to a clash between the two societies and you should all know how bloody such scenes are. Sam knew the current situation at hand and was on the lookout.
On that fateful day, Abasi-ono and Sam were together as usual when Sam noticed some funny movements, instead of alerting innocent Abasi-ono to run for his life, he left the poor guy suffer for the sins he hasn't committed. Sometime later, the opposing cult group showed up with anger written boldly on their faces.
They met Abasi-ono and thinking he was one of them unleashes their anger on him. Before he could say jack, he was pieces into shreds and his body parts scattered in the middle of the road, they left with his head. Such a shameful death! If only the innocent guy had cut off all ties with his so-called friend.
The scene was just so pathetic, seeing the body parts of an innocent 20yrs old guy being assembled together into a coffin for burial by his embittered parent is what none of us would like to experience. Abasi-ono was tagged a cultist because he was a friend to one.
Post-amble
One who befriends a thief is automatically known as a thief, therefore we should be careful of the kind of people we associate with, they might put us in trouble or endanger our lives. Research shows that 67% of decisions made by humans are through influence and pressure from others which could possibly be our friends. Let's keep on the watch, let's be on guard.
Let's say;👉No to bad friends
You see what bad friend can cause. Oooh how will the parents be telling others about thier sons death? That he was butchered by who?oooh my Goodness .Lets always be careful of the people we call our friends
The parents will be so ashamed of telling people how there son died because even if the parents tells them that there son is innocent, people will never accept that since they see them together
bad friend can also lead to our earlier grave if we keep following them the can kill our progress in life and make us achieve nothing at the end if this life bad friends are really bad and harmfull
We should be really careful in everything we do,just see how he was wasted and now they parents don't know the person or people that did it in particular.

Quite a pathetic story. This is common with teenagers who do not look before they leep. Adolescent period is often a time parents should pay much attention to their children. Try to know people who associate with your kids if not they can be wasted.
Yes,the story is really touching,just see how this precious life was just waisted just because we kids of these days no longer listen to our older ones.
yeah the story teach more to the youth about being careful of the life and how the association with friends things will go wrong precious life will go and many things that lead to death may also come if only the are careful of there live

We teenagers of nowadays are very stubborn and we are to reap what we sow. An adult will be telling you something you don't know but you wouldn't listen thinking you know all

It's very sad but true, we really need to work towards making right choice of friends
Teenagers associate with people who they don't even know how they are, but it is left for our parents to stop every wrong friendship before it becomes too late
I agree with you @chikaeli Parents show keep a close eye on there children mostly when they are teenagers because that's the period of life where they see so many new things and they also get curious most times, at this teenage stage of life .
Exactly, bad friends should not be allowed any where around us. If we talk to them and they refuse to change, the next thing is to try cutting off ties with them, it's not pride or anything but all about saving yourself.
If only Abasi-ono had left his friend, he wouldn't have met his untimely death. It's such a pity.

We should show compassion for each other no matter what. Granted, Abasi-ono made a grievous mistake by sticking to his bad friend which led to his untimely death, but we shouldn't blame him that much because in the other way round he proved himself to be a true friend who doesn't abandon a friend despite the circumstances.
bad friend are harmful dangerous and can lead to our really Darth we all should avoid them a good friend is one who will be there for you help you achieve more goal and also lead you to your success in life

When you keep a bad company, you will one day become bad because there is a 100% possibility that you must one day join them if you are unable to disconnect yourself from them

When you have a friend who is bad you are seen as a bad person and when you have a good friend you too will be called a good person because if you are unable to change your friend, your friend must change you

Keeping bad friends around and claiming they don't have influence over you is ironical, you may not be like them but when situations like that of Abasi-ono shows up ,you will be tagged as one of some , though so pathetic but I believe others will learn from his experience

This story was so sympathetic. Keeping good friends is better than bad friends. The poor innocent boy died because of what he don't know. Hmmmm, those that engage in making friends, be wise

That just too captivating , as nothing too hard to take than being innocently accused on what you have no idea about. However that , huge lesson about how one should mingling round friend's thing's.

Chai just look the way Abasi-ono ruined his previous life. He even got addicted to his bad friends, and that's really unfortunate.
