INSECURITY IN NIGERIA: A THORN IN OUR FLESH

Good day steemians, I hope we are all having a wonderful day. I would love to talk about the insecurity issues in my country Nigeria this afternoon. I was having this discussion with some colleagues at work earlier today and it dawned on me that we are even yet to see the height of Insecurity in the country.

Despite the reported efforts by the government of the country in fighting insecurity, it seems they are just fighting insecurity on paper. Citizens wake up daily to reports of bandits invading settlements, kidnapping, unrest in some parts of the nation caused by Fulani herdsmen, attacks on military and police formations by unknown gunmen among others. These and many other social vices are happening right under this administration with no record of victory in sight.

The security architecture in the country has to be reviewed and the government should look inwards towards solving this problem before it consumes us all. Our international and interstate borders need to be more secured, unemployment should be tackled as the idle hand could become the devil's workshop, the government should make education affordable and accessible to all, the security architecture in the country should be reviewed, States should also be able to have state police and not just depending on the federal government.
