MY DIARY GAME: HOW TO PREPARE BITTER LEAF SAUCE WITH ROASTED YAM

INTRODUCTION


This is one of my favourite food which I love to eat so much and it is very nice as well. Before I start the procedure of the roasted yam and the bitter leaf sauce let me start by telling everyone about the ingredients used for the food. They are;

  • bitter leaf
  • onions
  • red oil
  • maggi
  • salt
  • crawfish
  • dry fish
  • yam

THE STEPS IN PREPARING THE FOOD


First, i started with the roasting of the yam. The yam can be prepared in two different ways which is the modern and the traditional method ,but in this case i am going to use a modern method. However, i will talk a little about the traditional method. This involves making fire by using firewood,then put the yam on it and allow it to roast for some time ,but when the yam is on fire you have to be turning it so that the yam will not get burnt.

Now let me talk about the method that i used in roasting the yam which is a modern method by using a electrical machine known as happy call. This is a new device that can be use to roast yam and other kinds of food. First of all, i peel the yam, cut it and put it on the happy call and put it on the fire which can be stove or gas cooker, in this case the gas cooker was used ,when i put it on the gas i reduced the fire to allow it cook properly ,allow it to roast for some time, for about 15-20mins. When the yam is on fire i was turning it to avoid the yam getting burnt. Steps i follow when doing the roasted yam.

Next step is the preparation of bitter leaf sauce. First i get my bitter leaf, pluck it and wash it very well to remove the bitter taste of the leaf .
the next thing i did was to grind the onion ,pepper and my crayfish together. Wash the fish and put it on a plate or bowl. How i prepare my sauce.
I put a clean pot on the gas cooker and allow it to dry out and i added red oil to it ,thereafter i put my grinded onion ,pepper and the crayfish on the pot and i added maggi and salt to taste. I cover it and allow it to cook for some time for about 10-15mins ,after that i added my washed bitter leaf to it and allow it to cook for some time. I remove the cooked sauce and the food is ready to eat .

CONCLUSION

In conclusion i will like to tell everyone that the bitter leaf sauce and roasted yam was my best meal during the Xmas period
