INTRODUCTION

Beautiful greetings to every steemalive members. It's always an opportunity to either study,research or get to know more about our environments with @steemalive contests.

The name of the institution I visited and toured is called Federal Polytechnic Nekede owerri.

Brief History about Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri.

The federal Polytechnic Nekede (FEDPONEK) is one amongst the list of federal government owned tertiary institutions. Located at Nekede, Owerri West Local government area in Imo state south East Nigeria.
This federal owned institution was established in the year 1978 as college of technology on the premises of government technical college by the Imo state government thought it was a temporary site.
FEDPONEK Was later moved to its current site.
The school was changed to a federal tertiary institution and then renamed on the 7th of April 1993 to federal Polytechnic Nekede.

There are 6 faculties that are 'housed' by the school and they are;

  • School of ICT
  • School of Industrial and Applied Science
  • School of Business Management Technology
  • School of Environmental Development Technology
  • School of Engineering Technology
  • School of Humanities and Social sciences

And all these faculties accomodate as many students as are accredited.
Federal polytechnic Nekede runs 3 different school programs which are

  • Regular program ( Morning And Evening)
  • Weekend program.

This is one of the major reasons why it's the most populated tertiary Institution in Imo state.

On entering the school the first thing you'll see are an unending teeming crowd of students who are either leaving or entering the school. The crowd is so much that it causes human traffic and prevents motorists easy access in and out of the school.

Students entering and leaving school.

While going round the school,Inasmuch as there were one or two places of fun, I looked out for places of academic interests to the students, major landmarks and places of popular reknown in the school. Of course I didnt leave the fun places out either. I found a few. Here they are;

Information Technology Center (ICT)

This is the office students go to, to settle errors in their portals. Admission errors,hnd comeback errors,screening issues etc. Any errors at all,this place is the place to go.

While taking a tour of the school and asking questions people looked at me weirdly as I just lazied around meeting certain students upto 3times because of the well connected layout of the school. I believe they either pegged me as a fresh ND student or a guest who was lost. Lol.

The next place I checked out was the PART TIME BUILDING

IMG-20210930-WA0005.jpg

Like I said earlier in this post, the school runs a 3dimensional program and with the sheer amount of students new halls need to be made for each program.
This large hall structure is where the part time students have their lectures.

EXAM'S AND RECORDS

The reason students come to school is to get an education and after years of being educated,they graduate with skills to better the society. One way to test the level of knowledge a student has acquired is by exams,so the need for this very important department in the school.

This is Exams and Record. Here the students Result issues are been attended to and also Collation of Result is done in this office building. Inside this building are different offices and staff working in each department.

The students have cafes and restraunts like a mini market at one side of the school. This is where students come to for refreshment and brain rejuvenation. Another wonderful fun place the students go to is;

THE SCHOOL'S STADIUM

Here the students come for various extracurricular activities. From Dancing, to volleyball to football even basket ball.
Barricaded round about with a low rise wall, The school's stadium is always open at all school hours and are only closed by 7pm.
I could see students doing one form of sport or another,I could also see some hostels outside school from inside the stadium. Though I couldn't get a picture of it at the time.

SCHOOL BURSARY

This is where all payments student make are confirmed,receipts are given and also lost payment receipts are retrieved.

  1. The Rector's Office

This is the corridor of power in this school. The administration office of the school's rector. The running order of the school.

Might I say that federal polytechnic Nekede is very large owing to the fact that each program has an area for themselves and their administrative staff.

It was an amazing time touring the school,there was everything from atm stands to libraries,etc. Thank you @steemalive for this opportunity to tour a government institution.

You actually did a great tour of the school at least I know more about federal polytechnic negede, oOwerri, looks like the school have been around for a long time now and still maintaining standards but I got confused about the programs run by the school, you made mention of part time and weekend programs but my knowledge of part time programs is that they usually run on weekends. So I wanted to be sure whether the part time program run by the school is different from the weekend programs and please could you enlighten me more about the difference?
Thanks.
