Of all things that hold teenagers back, of all the fears and critical factors they face and fight, there is one which is stagnant and toxic...........

It is killing our teenagers and we shouldn't keep quiet. It is sad to know that it has become a common factor to teenagers and the ability to come out of it may be the one to determine their existence (before talking productivity).

So, are you a teenager and you're reading this? If you're not, I'm sure you do have a sister, brother, a relative who is still in their teen age? Or know that teenage neighbour living just two blocks away from you. Might even be your Facebook friend👩‍💻.

What causes depression???

According to WHO, "depression results from a complex interaction of social, psychological and biological factors"

The grammar too much, I know. 😅 Let's try to break it down.

Depression can be surprisingly genetic, that is something that runs in the family and can be passed on to the children.

It can also be caused by sickness; maybe a lifetime ailment causing one to feel hopeless and sad.

Abusing substances can be one of the causes of depression and this may even lead it to a critical stage.

Excessive stress can be very harmful and can make a teenager depressed. High demands of a parent from their child especially when it comes to academic achievements.

Parental divorce or separation, learning disability, death of a loved one, feeling rejected and worthless may all be associated with depression.

It could also be as a result of bullying, body shaming and more.... Because there are so many causes of depression and yet, none of these factors has been spotlighted.

it is better to let the person say how and why he feels that way while you just listen.

How can a depressed teenager cope, fight and even win depression?........what do you think?
