INTRODUCTION
Hello all Steemians, I'm back again to show you my town in ten pictures with special focus on ten churches in my town, Aba.
As we know Aba to be a commercial city with so many businesses thriving, so also we have different churches and denominations, that's why in this post I will be sharing with you some of them. Happy reading😘
St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, Omoba Road, Ogbor Hill
St Ambrose Parish, No. 52 Omoba Road is the first catholic church to be established in Ogbor Hill. It is strategically located at the hill side of Ogbor Kingdom, that's why it's called Ugwu Zion depicting the Biblical Zion City built on a hill. It was created out from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, East Street by Danfofodio, and formerly a Holy Ghost Parish, until in the late nineties when it was changed to a Diocesean Parish.
St Ambrose Parish has hosted several priests and religious since its inception and has given birth to stations like St Dominic, Federal Housing Estate, Opobo Road, now a Parish, St. Augustine, New Umuahia Road, St Luke's Station Umuokea, Sacred Heart Chapel, Ikot Ekpene Road etc.
It has several Pious societies and groups namely, Catholic Biblical Instructor's Union (CBIU), Catholic Biblical Movement of Nigeria (CBMN), Block Rosary Crusade, Holy ChildHood Association, Sacred Heart Society, Legion Of Mary, Men Of Order (MOD), Lay Readers Association, Choir, Altar Knights Association, Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Nigeria (CCRN), Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Catholic Men Organization (CMO), Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) etc. Currently, St Ambrose is a Vicariate and has about five priests working with Rev. Fr. Ugbaja (Onwa) as the Parish priest.
Their Sunday masses are 6:30am, 8am (English), 8:30am (children's mass) and 10am Adult Mass and other weekdays masses like during Wednesday prayer, Adoration Thursday etc.
Sunday evenings: Cathecism classes and Benediction.
Weekdays: 6:00am.
St Andrew's Church (Anglican Communion)
This church is one of the old Anglican Parishes in Aba. It is the Ogbor Hill Archdeaconary headquarters and its located at No 64 Omoba Road, Ogbor Hill, with many other stations under it.
It's weekly activities includes;
- Sunday service: English: 6:30am and Igbo 9:30am.
- Mondays: Prayer Warfare: 5:00pm
- Tuesdays: Counseling: 9:00am -2pm
- Wednesdays: Holy Communion Service: 6:30am and
Midweek Prayer/Fasting Program (Miracle Hour): 8:00am. - Fridays: Search the Scripture Bible Class: 5:00m.
I've been opportuned to attend one of their Sunday 9:30am services, and I so much enjoyed it.
Assemblies of God Church, Ukaegbu Road)
Assemblies of God Church a.k.a Shekinah Int'l Chapel, located at No 12 Ukaegbu Road, is the first to be established in Ogbor Hill. It has given birth to so many other stations within and around Ogbor Hill axis.
St Andrew's Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Azikiwe Road
St Andrew's PCN, is the first Aba Parish of PCN, and it's located at No 1 Azikiwe Road, close to Ama Ogbonna. It has given birth to so many other parishes and stations, and has the office of the South Central Synod of PCN under it.
It's weekly activities incluses;
- Sundays: 1st Service: 7:00am, 2nd service: 9:00am
- Mondays: Arm's meering: 5:00pm
*Wednesdays: Choir Practice: 5:00pm
Thursdays: Bible Study: 5:00pm
Fridays: Cathecism class / Evangelism Outreach: 5:00pm.
The Apostolic Church of Nigeria
This branch of the Apostolic Church of Nigeria is the Aba Metropolitan Field, Igbo Land Territory and it's located at the business hub of Aba, 161/163 Azikiwe Road. Their slang is one fold, one shepherd.
Some of their weekly activities are;
- Sundays: Sunday School: 8am, Morning Service: 9am, Evening service: 5pm
*Mondays: Baptismal class: 5pm, Youth Fellowship: 5pm
Wednesdays: Praying & Fasting: 9am
Fridays: Bible study: 5pm.
St Mark's Methodist Church Nigeria
St Mark's Methodist Church (Chapel of Grace) is located at No 8/10 Azikiwe Road, Aba. It is the trinity circuit headquarters and under the Diocese of Aba East. It holds its Sunday services thus;
- Combined Service: First Sunday of every month: 9am.
- Igbo Sunday School: 8-9am, Sevice: 9-12noon
- English Sunday School: 7:30-8:30am,
Service: 8:30am -12:30pm
Worthy is the Lamb.
St Joseph's Catholic Parish, Market Road
St Joseph's Catholic Parish (Good People, One Happy Family) is one of the oldest catholic parishes in Aba, Enyimba City and is located at No 43 Market Road, a stone throw away from the popular baking materials market. It has given birth to so many other parishes and stations, including SS Anthony & Jude (Omalicha), Umungasi.
It has a vast compound that hosts a health Centre, Bishop Ezeonyia Memorial College established by Very Rev. Fr Peter Nwosu, and St Joseph Schools, etc.
They celebrate massess as thus;
- Weekdays: 6:00am & 12:00noon,
- Saturdays 8:00am & 5:30pm
- Sundays: 5:45am, 6:15am, 7:15am, 8:00am, 9:15am, 10:30am, & 5:30pm
Rapture Life Covenant Assembly
This church is located at No 141 Azikiwe Road, the ever busy business hub of Aba.
The Minister in Charge is Rev. Barrister Stanley Chukwuma and their mandate is to prepare all for the coming rapture.
Faith Tabernacle Congregation, Nigeria
This branch is the National headquarters and its located at 191-195 Azikiwe Road by Ube Street.
Their Sunday services as
- First Sundays: 8:30 & 2:00
- Other Sundays: Sunday School: 8:00am, Main Service: 9:30am & 4:00pm.
Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Church
This beautiful edifice of Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, ESOCS (Mount of Mercy) is the Aba Province Headquarters and it's location is 194 Hospital Road by East Street.
Conclusion
Though we are many, we are one body in Christ. We might be of different denomination, but we serve only one God, the creator of the universe.

Truly one body but many members , factored and created by one God. Set to dwell on one earth but on different account and functioning . Can all of those body stay with no schism ?
You really took time to visit those churches, get their names and other necessary informations about them. Aba have a lot of churches just like here. But my greatest surprise is that, the more church we have, the more corruption increases. Please what can be the cost @luchyl?
