INTRODUCTION

Greetings to you all. Trust you all had a great day. It's @luchyl coming your way once again to share this exciting post with you; "how I made a low Cost yogurt fruit Parfait". Sit back and enjoy it.
Before going further, I would like us to know what Parfait is.

What is Parfait?

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, a Parfait is

  • "a flavored custard containing whipped cream and syrup frozen without stirring"
  • "a cold dessert made of layers of fruit, syrup, ice cream, and whipped cream"

Parfait means different things to different countries;

  • Parfait is really a general term used to describe many different types of layered foods served in a dish. In practice, though, most Americans are familiar with ice cream or yogurt parfaits, which are a very specific type of dessert.
Parfaits are usually topped off with whipped cream.
  • The American parfait is very similar to a sundae. It may contain layers of ice cream or cream, and include nuts, syrups, whipped cream, fresh fruit, granola, and any number of other dessert style toppings. It is a popular dessert in fairly upscale restaurants that want to offer something a bit more casual than heavier traditional French desserts.
  • French parfait itself is traditionally made with eggs and cream whipped with a layer of fruit.
  • The Japanese use the word to refer to dessert as well, although in the Japanese context, parfait is really the same thing as an American sundae. Ice cream is still considered the base, and the additions added are the standard sundae additions, from ground nuts, to hot chocolate syrup, to sprinkles and cherries.

Parfaits are made differently in different countries, the unifying theme tends to be the layering, the somewhat creamy consistency, and the service, which is usually in a tall clear glass.

Now that we know the various fruits used in making parfait, let's see how I made a low cost Yogurt fruit Parfait.

Ingredients

*Greek Yogurt, which can be gotten from supermarkets and shopping malls, but I made it myself.

  • one sizeable apple
  • two sizeable ripe banana
  • three pieces of Kwuli Kwuli (groundnut chips)
  • two sizeable carrots.
  • one sizeable apple

Procedure

  • Wash all the fruits very well in running water, then set aside for the water on them to dry.
For the carrot, I scraped the back because of that's how I like eating my carrots so it's not compulsory.
  • Cut all of the fruits in desired sizes.

Then it's time to start layering.
Get your cups / bowls and start layering as you desire. I started with adding carrot - apple at the base, topped with yogurt, then pear-banana, carrot - apple, topped with yogurt again, repeated the layering then kwuli kwuli.
It's advisable to use clear glass cups / bowls, for me I improvised with plastic cups.
Also make sure the yogurt is cold before using.

Hi @luchyl,

Good to read your post here. You have done well by explaining and letting us know about parfaits. It comes in different form based on country and individual choice.

I like that of yogurt and fruits,it would be very delicious, palatable and nutritious.Perhaps,I will try it out.

Inasmuch as you attached the sources of your definitions,it doesn't mean that you should write it verbatim.Always read and write it in your words.I sense a partial plagiarism in your work.

Ohhh my God, dear @luchyl, you have reminded me of my favorite which I've forgotten. That is fruit salad. I really love this style. I gonna try it. Pure yoghurt and sweetened yoghurt, which is better?

Good to read that my post made you remember your favorite fruit salad. But this is Yogurt Fruit Parfait, not fruit salad and its made with Greek Yogurt. You can get it in shopping malls like Market Square, and some big supermarkets.
But for the fruit salad you mentioned, you may try using unsweetened yogurt cos that's what I use. Cheers.
