I am from the village called ughelli, is a town in Delta State Nigeria, it is actually the headquater of Ughelli North,the major language they speak is Urhobo.
‘‘ History have it to be the number one among the 24 kingdom that make up the Urhobo Nation.There are some mixture of different tribe apart from Urhobo like Igbos and edo etc, agriculture activities and industrial work are done there. "
The founder of ughelli ( oghene) was a prince the second son of Oghwoghwa.

The forms of marriage allowed in urhobo traditional marriage includes :
a) Esavwijotor : is a kind of marriage that allows either the parents of the boy or the girl to agree to marry at the early age of their children.
b) Arranged in absentia : This is a kind of marriage where someone out of the country , his parents help him take a girl as a wife and send her to him . etc

After introduction the both family of the bride and groom meet on a fixed date.
The bride family welcome the groom family with a drink and a kola nut.
After the enterment, the visitors are asked the reason for their visit, the father of bride would ask that different lady be allow to pass the man presence until he finally pick his choice.
The dowry is paid as nogotiated,the father of the bride pour a drink using a natural dry gin know as ( ogogoro ) then the father of the bride bless them and the drink, the bride is allow to sit on the husband lap and then the blessed drink is given to the man to drink and pass to the wife and the wife take a little and return it to the husband as a sign of respect.
Music is been played, dancing and accepting of gift by the couple, they are later escorted home which is known as ‘ Esuo '

• 2000 naira for youth of the bride father including the men and the female
• 2000 naira for the bride mother and the wife he family.
• 1000 naira with a hot drink
• 1000 naira for the presentation of the bride and the spraying of the bride mother.
• 400 naira for the prayer for kola nut and hot drink
