INTRODUCTION

Greetings friends and everyone in steemalive community,how are you all doing today? I believe everyone is strong. Welcome to the second day of my five days writing challenge. Toady I will like to present a genius,who is a successful and influencial business man,we all knows this man. His success has lasted for years and he's still going higher,let's talk about Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

BACKGROUND OF ALIKO DANGOTE

Aliko Dangote GCON is a Nigerian business magnate. He was born on the 10th of April 1957 (currently 64 years) into the family of Mohammed Dangote(father) and Hajia Mariya Sanusi Dantata(mother). Aliko Dangote, is an Hausa Muslim from Kano, Kano State, Nigeria. He is the great-grandson of Alhassan Dantata, the richest West African at the time of his death in 1955.

EDUCATION AND CAREER

Aliko Dangote schooled at the Sheikh Ali Kumasi Madrasa, followed by Capital High School, Kano. He graduated from the Government college ,Burning kudu in the year 1978. He studied Business studies and administration,At the age of 21, Dangote graduated from Egypt's Al-Azhar University, which was one of Islam’s most prestigious universities.

BUSINESS CAREER HISTORY

According to Aliko Dangote,when he was a kid he will always carry candies to school and be selling to his fellow students,this is where his passion for business started.
The Dangote Group was first established as a small trading firm in the year 1977,after the establishment he relocated to Lagos State to expand his company.
After graduating from college in 1977, Dangote took a loan from his uncle to start a business ,he used the loan to start importing commodities at a wholesale price from international suppliers. When he started,he based mainly on rice from Thailand and sugar from Brazil and his business grew rapidly.

After sometime his business grew,he started producing most of the things he imported. After his business in commodities grew,he ventured into cement and today he owes the largest and best cement company,Dangote cement.

HIS SPECIFIC PROJECTS

Aliko Dangote has indeed attain a greater heights in his business. Repeatedly he has emerged as the richest man in Africa year after year. The following are notable projects or Achievement of Aliko Dangote;
• He owns the largest cement company in Africa.
• He covers the higher market in the sugar market and supplies sugar to almost all beverage and drink companies in Africa.
• His products in terms of food and household commodities has become a household name,everyone uses or two of his products daily.
• Currently he has a refinery and petrochemical project which is under construction at Lekki Lagos State, and this is a very huge project.
• He is not a politician but he has access to all political levels in Nigeria and beyond.
• The single project he started with a loan in a small room today is a world wide business, almost all countries in Africa and beyond uses his product, indeed he is a great man.

AWARDS AND SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Aliko Dangote in his life time has recieved too many awards and recognitions that are uncountable. Below are some of the awards he has recieved;

• During the tenure of president Goodluck Jonathan,Dangote was awarded Nigeria's second-highest honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

• Dangote was named as the Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2014.

• For six consecutive years,( 2013, 2014,2015,2016,2017, and 2018), Forbes listed him as the "Most Powerful Man in Africa".

• In 2014, he was listed CNBC's "Top 25 Businessmen in the World" who changed and shaped the century.

• In April 2014, Time magazine listed him among its 100 most influential people in the world.

• In October 2015, Dangote was listed among "50 Most Influential Individuals in the World" by Bloomberg Markets.
• He won "The Guardian Man of the Year 2015".

• He won the "2016 African Business Leader Award", organized by the Africa-America Institute (AAI).

• Dangote was cited as one of the top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in 2015, 2017,2018 and 2019.etc.

WHY I CHOOSE ALIKO DANGOTE

• Dangote is a true leader, his leadership qualities cannot be underrated and this particular qualities made me like his personality.
• Dangote although his family was up and doing when he was a kid, he didn't rely on his family wealth but rather he still took loan from his own uncle to build his own empire, so many people from a wealthy family depends on the family wealth, his outstanding personality here made me like him.
• Dangote has a specific and defined goal towards actualizing his goal and this is a rare quality that I picked in his life.
• Dangote built his business empire from scratch, he was focused, consistence and never gave up for once, this is also a rare quality that I grabbed from his life.

Aliko Dangote is indeed a great man and despite all his Achievements, he's still working harder that is what a great man is known for abd I hope I can apply the qualities I grabbed from him to make my life better and I also hope to be like him someday.
