DAIRY GAME: CHIEFTAINCY CORONATION CEREMONY IN MY VILLAGE:by @laderi: 10% reward to steemalive: 31-12-2021
Good day cohort steemians, hope u are all doing well, I welcome you all once again to my blog. my dairy is all about a chieftaincy coronation ceremony in my village, My village is situated in Bayelsa state Nigeria, in ogbia local government, the local government of the former president of Nigeria Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The name of my village is called Akipelai a crude oil producing community, this Akipelai gave birth to four sons, the chieftaincy stool I want to talk about in this post is called the Emafi stole, this Emafi is a grand son to Akipelai.Enjoy.
The Emafi stool is a war canoe group of Houses in Akaraka compound of Akipelai community, and it is a well respected stool. The Emafi gave birth to eleven children out of which three were females and eight males namely. Apel, Ogol, Inengite, Apkapire, Ikpokpo, okoro, Ide, Ape. females Asawar, Ikokosi, Ipotun.
The Emafi war canoe group of Houses have the following chieftaincy stools under it, chief Apel, chief Ogol, chief Inengite, chief Apkapire, chief Ikpokpo, chief okoro, chief Ide, chief Opkom, chief Ape, chief Ikogi, chief Awinini, chief Omomkori.
The Emafi family for the past three years after the death of the former chief, were searching for a capable person to fill the relevant stool still the search light bimed on Hon Ebiango Okoba Egain.
Hon Ebiago okoba Egain is a master degree holder, and also a former Ogbia local government chairman.
In Akipelai we have the king bench which are regarded as the highest chiefs in the town. this chiefs are the direct sons to the founder of the community called Akipelai, the chiefs are as follows, chief Igbaba first son, chief Akaraka, chief Akua, chief Amabebe. The first son Igbaba is regarded as the chief priest of the community, this chief is one responsible in coronating a king and chiefs of the community without him no chief or king can be installed.
Before any person can be installed as chief, the chief priest Igabba have to select that person marking the person with a white ancestral chalk, Four persons will be brought out for the selection process. which ever person the chief priest chose out of the four is the to be installed as chief.
All the traditional rites were carried out, by the chief priest. there was music entertainment, alot of government officials were present in the ceremony, it an enjoyable ceremony very colourful. The coronation ceremony that triggered this post is the chieftaincy installation ceremony of chief Emafi one of the high chieftaincy stools in my town.
