INTRODUCTION

Hello steemians hope u are all fine, I welcome you all. This post is a contest titled NOT-JUST-OK! A 5-DAY WRITING CHALLENGE, and this is my fourth post. In this post I will be talking about food, we all eat food but there are things some
persons don't really know about food, so this post is here to open up some of this things,enjoy as you read on.

WHAT IS FOOD

Food can be described as what both humans and animals eat, that gives the human body the required nutrients in other to enhance growth, breathing, energy for activities, the immune system, repair of the body and alot more.

Moreso Food substances have carbohydrates, protein,fat,and other important nutrients that when consumed sustains humans and animals and alot benefits to the human body.

THE MAIN SOURCES OF FOOD

Foods are gotten from animals and plants, animals and plants are the main sources of food for all living things on earth. Foods obtained from plants carbohydrates, fat and other important nutrients to the body while foods gotten from animals mostly provides protein.

There are alot of nutrients in food but the major ones are, carbohydrates, fats, protein, minerals, vitamins,water,and dietary fibre.

IMPORTANCE OF FOOD

Food can give alot of things to the human body, it enhances the body growth of humans, it helps in developing a strong immune system, the developed immune system helps the body to fight diseases, food helps the five senses organs to function well and gives humans the energy to carry out activities.

HEALTHY AND UNHEALTHY FOOD

Healthy food is also known as balanced diet, a meal is considered as balanced diet when it contains the proper food nutrients needed in a meal.Is is very important and profitable to always prepare our meals with the proper nutrients Needed for the meal.

whereas unhealthy food can be described as a meal that lacks the necessary nutrients needed, is is a pity that alot of persons eat unhealthy food based on one reason or the other not knowing the effects.

IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY FOOD

Eating a meal that contains all the necessary nutrients needed is very good because, it enhances good health, protects you against numerous chronic diseases, like cancer, diabetes, Heart diseass, stroke, osteoporosis and alot more. moreso eating healthy food nusrishes the body and help the sense organs to work perfectly.

EFFECTS OF EATING UNHEALTHY FOOD

Eating unhealthy food can cause tiredness, stress, and affect the ability to work. Overtime this can bring illnesses and risk of other health problems like high blood pressure, tooth decay.

SOME HEALTHY EATING TIPS

  • Eating breakfast every day.
  • Eating three regular meals a day.
  • Eating smarter snacks when needed.
  • Be careful of what you eat.
  • Eat only the quantity of food your body requires.
  • Drinking with caution.
  • Eat alest five fruits a day.
  • Eating more of starchy foods.
  • Drinking alot of water.
  • Eating alot of fish especially oily fish every. week.
  • Make sure you eat vegetables.
  • Eat less of saturated fat and sugar.

SOME BAD EATEN HABITS TO AVOID

  • Stop Nighttime Noshing: Not everytime of the day is suitable for eaten, when you eat a meal matters. Eating late at night is really not a good Idea, it makes someone gain excess fat which is not good for the body.

How to fix it: After eating dinner, keep your mind away from the kitchen and brush up your teeth, keeping your mind away from the meal you just had.

  • Don't Skip Breakfast: Note that breakfast is likely the most important meal of the day, so make sure of taking breakfast every day no matter what. Breakfast stimulates the energy you need to operate in the day, Skiping it might make someone overeat later which is not good.

How to fix it: Always prepare your breakfast ahead of time, not to delay you if you are always in a hast to leave the house, make sure you always have snacks.

  • Mindless Eating: Always be mindful of the size of plate you use to eat, it is discovered that Eating with larger bowls increases eating rate, which might make you eat more than what your body requires which later affects you.

How to fix it: Make sure you buy smaller plates, keep your mind away from large bowls and also do not eat directly from a package or container.

  • Emotional Eating: When the mind is not at rest thinking too much, been depressed might make someone not eat the quantity of food the body requires. Also when you are over exited it might make you eat too much, Eating more than your body requires.

How to fix it: When you are not happy, make sure you find a way to get happy before eating, you can talk to someone, watch funny movies, listen to songs and alot more. Then when over exited don't eat immediately, try and calm down before eating.

  • Don't eat too quickly: When you eat too fast your brain might not quickly signal you that you are full, before you could get yourself you have eating more than you had to eat which is not healthy.

How to fix it: Try to slow down when you eat, possibly put down your spoon between bites, make sure you chew each bite properly taking small bites. Make sure you take water as you eat, it helps to slow you down.

  • Don't eat Infront of the TV: Eating when watching a movie or using the computer or playing video game is bad. Doing this will make you eat more than you have to eat.

How to fix it: eat before watching the TV or working on the computer. If u have to eat then make sure you suspend the watching of the TV.
