Good day fellow steemians, It’s always an excitement to have you in my blog.
This is my third entry in this contest and In this post, and I will be reviewing the life of the first man to successfully perform the separation of conjoined twins; “Ben Carson”. Enjoy!

INTRODUCTION

A genius, in psychology, is simply a person of extraordinary intellectual power and I see that as a concise definition.

BACKGROUND PROFILE OF BEN CARSON

Benjamin Solomon Carson, Sr., popularly know as Ben Carson was born on September 18, 1951, In Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.
Carson had a poor performance in school but after much encouragement from his mother, he later developed an interest in learning and eventually earned a scholarship to Yale University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1973. He got married to Lacena (“Candy”) Rustin in 1975 and had three children. He further attended the University of Michigan, earning a medical degree in 1977 and later Johns Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he completed a residency in neurosurgery. In 1984, Carson became director of a pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins.

• In 1987 a successful separation of occipital craniopagus twins was by Carson.
• In 1997, in a 28-hour-long operation, he led a team of South African and Zambian surgeons in a separation of twins conjoined at the top of the head which ended successfully.
• Carson was also known for having performed the first successful rescue of a hydrocephalic twin (with water on their brain).
• Carson had a techniques for hemispherectomy and craniofacial reconstructive surgery which was used in the fields of neurosurgery and plastic surgery.
• In 2009 a movie was made in his regards; “Gifted Hands” : The Ben Carson Story.

• In 2012 Carson published “America the Beautiful” : Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great, the work expressly reflected his growing interest in politics.
• In mid-2013 he retired as a surgeon, and joined the Fox News Channel as a commentator the following year.
• In 2014 he wrote (with his wife) One Nation:
  What we can all do to Save America’s Future.
• In the 2015 he released “A More Perfect Union” : What we the people can do to reclaim our Constitutional Liberties, he issued his interpretations of the mandate established by the U.S. Constitution.
• In 2016 he entered the U.S. presidential election race.
• Carson formally suspended his campaign in early March 2016 as he was a vocal supporter of the eventual winner Donald Trump who shared similar vision for the Nation.
• In March 2017 Carson was confirmed by the Senate, 58–41, and took office shortly thereafter.

WHY I CHOSE HIM AS A ROLE MODEL

Everyone in the world is worth being nice to. Because God never creates inferior human beings, each person deserves respect and dignity _“Ben Carson”.

• He is a self made Genius.
• He had a poor performance in school but took encouragement and made history.
• He helped in saving countless lives through his profession.
• His drive for a better nation is very reputable.
• His Christian faith and beliefs is of great importance.
• He is a source of inspiration to people in his field.
• He believes in giving others the limelight to shine.
• He possesses humility.

CONCLUSION

Ben Carson is an exemplary man, his deeds have really shook the world and made history for him.
My knowledge about this genius was from the movie titled “the gifted hands” but my story about him won’t be complete without the knowledge gotten from britannica.com
