Hello great community i am happy to be here again. Today i will be sharing with you Bribery and corruption and its effects on our society today. Details of this can be seen below.
What is bribery and corruption.
Bribery and corruption walk hand in hand. We can say there are brothers. If you see black and you were supposed to appear before people to bear witness of what you saw, and some one now offers you some amount of cash for you to cover the truth, which you do.
We can now say that the money which was given to cover the truth is bribery while you collecting the money, means you are corrupt.
So bribery and corruption simply means giving and taking illegal money, properties or anything in one's favour. This is for sole interest and to cover up the truth which was supposed to be spoken.
Why is it common?
The major reasons why bribery and corruption is common it's because of grids. Today in government, we can see that grids has make many not to remember the grass root simply because they were elected to represent us.
The grid for wealth has poisoned the minds of our leaders that they can do anything just to keep the money for their generations to come and let others in abject poverty.
Explain how bribery and corruption happens in your city, state or country (please do not call names).
Nigeria my country is the highest corrupted country. This is caused by the leaders of the country. We all know too well that followers do what the leaders are saying and they equally do! but here in Nigeria, the leaders want the followers to be truthful and do the right thing while the leaders are doing the wrong thing.
For example when they know that you knew their secrets, they will prison you and make sure you remain there until their tenure in office elapse.
Secondly, during elections they will promised to do all thing possible to put smiles in people's face and giving salt to our mothers. This salt sharing is done street by street just to win their heart and votes.
Thirdly, a hug amount of money was missing in government office and they said it was snake that came and swallow it not to talk of the other which they claimed it was burnt! I mean billions of naira.
All these are just the few once i can unveil for now.
Why is it wrong for public office holders to get involved in bribery and corruption.
As a public office holder, you are an eye to the society at large. The society are looking up to you and if you failed in your responsibility, it means you have failed the entire society.
As a public office holder, you were not supposed to involved yourself in any illegal business because your duty is to protect life of people and properties. But now instead of protecting you are now killing people by collecting bribe which is very bad.
If the government sets laws but not following the laws who else will? This is the challenged we are facing here in Nigeria. When the foundation is not solid, how can the house stand?
Our incumbent President slogan was to fight corruption! According to him, Stop corruption and he went forward to say change tarts from you!
This was true talk because for a country or nation to changed, it means we all must change.
The implication is that,; The leaders should try their best not to involve in bribery and corruption because they are the eye of the people.
What should be done to public office holders that get involved in bribery and corruption? Be detailed
Any public officer who get involved in bribery and corruption should face the law.
Immediately this act is seen in them, they should be dismissed from duty as this will help to coup the rate of bribery and corruption.
In conclusion, i want to say that bribery and corruption has not started today but it has been.
All who are victim should be penalized for their wrong doings.

Such a shame and disgrace to humanity, I can't phantom the amount of money they really derive from all these crooked ways of theirs
Some are being influence by others to take bribe while some pervert justice in other to save their own lives honestly things have gone out hand and will be more worse because people are getting more aggressive but God will not allow He's a God of justice and will soon bring justice to this earth.

Good setting the reward @100 percent in support of steemalive. I agree that bribery and corruption is not new. It's been around for too long and the rate is rising. It is fast depleting state resources. Something should be done to curb right now if not it will destroy us. Enforcement of the laws against corruption is the solution.

The ones who should be fighting bribery and corruption are now found to be the ones pioneering it.
