Pressure - What is it? How can one handle it?

Peer pressure is a direct or indirect attack from some group of children in the same age, it comes in both negative and positive way, this can be peers in the school or in the streets, and they may try to influence their peer to join them in some bad habits. In a positive way peer pressure can motivate a teenager to do more better than he was doing.

List of some negative peer pressure.
  • Pressure to cheat during exams.
  • Pressure to live immoral life.
  • Pressure to live an unclean life like smoking weed and cigarettes.
  • Pressure to join some bad gangs of theft and violence.
  • Pressure to disobey the elders including parents.
  • Pressure to dress indecently.
    And many more.

Let's talk about how to handle this problem.

How to handle it.

First thing that helps to handle negative peer pressure is thinking ahead of time, so that you will know how to act of talk because those peers can be a set of bullies and you need to handle them with care.

A teenager should always pay attention to his or her feelings when he is around his peers, if he doesn't feel comfortable over how they act he should take his leave and immediately quite associating with them.

Boldness is another important thing that helps, be bold enough to say to the on pressuring you "please stop I don't like it" and be consistent in rejecting his offer he will flee.

Always communicate with your parents and let them know what you are going through, if possible let them know those peers and how they operate that will serve as a security for you.

Always stay around people who influence you positively and the negative peers will flee.

why is peer pressure common

In as much as children keep growing to teenagers there will be peer pressure because at some age in life every child want to show his ability either in a positive way or a negative way, and at some age children are filled with much strength and they will work with those strength to create memories and history in life.
This children works in groups either for good or for bad.

Why is peer pressure dangerous

Peer pressure is just like swimming in a deep ocean there are many powerful forces that might be silently working slowly the waves keeps pushing you to the sideways before you recognize it you are off the track and you can't find anyone to help you out, that is how peer pressure works it gradually takes you off the track and then when there is no rescue it becomes difficult and dangerous.

what if your peers ridicule you?

One thing is certain, you can't hide from your peers but you can decide what to do at any point in time, when ridiculed just walk away because the more you stay the more intense the attack becomes.

Always have it at the back of your mind that there is a consequence for being at the right track, but if you do the right thing you will be happy forever and your family members will be proud of you, most importantly Jehovah God will be proud of you.

Is there peer pressure in a positive way, cos I have come across one, all I see is the negative pressure from peer groups

Yes there is positive peer pressure, peers who pressures you to be the best student, peers who advice you to be obedient to your parents, peers who helps you to avoid bad friends so those ones are positive pressures from your peers.

😁😁😁👍, why didn't I think in this direction, it so true, peer mate that want you excel as they do

The negative impact of peer pressure seems to overshadow the positive impact.

What could this be attributed to?

Yes you will see that bad things have almost overshadowed good things in this world we are living in, most times bad things go viral more than the good.

Hmmmm! That is deep. Thanks for your response.

It's quite annoying that negative part is more high than the positive side of peer pressure,so we should know how we get influenced.
