Reasons Families Have Preference

• In Igbo culture,male gender being the first child in the family is regarded as a good thing because they have found someone who will carry the family lineage and family name. They believe that the female folk will be married to another family and build her home in another family.
• The first born child is regarded as someone who will take over the family responsibility and also share the family properties after the father is gone.

Given the amount of things they are expected to do, do you think the position is best for male or female child?

Both gender can be the first born child of the family family, it doesn't matter which gender, what matters is the kind of training given to them and level of exposure to life.
My preference is that a girl child can handle being the first born child of the family, with the below points:

1. The female is caring enough to take care of the family than male folks, most female gender that are married always call to check up on their parents quite often and send them money for upkeep.
2. The female gender are always alert to know the update of the family. For instance,a female gender staying in a different country with her family will always make sure her parents are in good condition than the male folks.
3. The female gender are always willing to fight for ny family whenever there is an intruder.

It all depends on the kind of training given to a child as they are growing up.

Advantages

• Considering a girl child as the first born of the family, they are also ready to manage the household and care for their younger ones, always willing to sacrifice just to make sure their siblings are happy.
• They are always alert to protect the family and younger ones.
• The female folks are the once that take good care of their parents whenever they are aged.
• The female folks make sure their younger siblings further their education and provide the necessary needs if she is in position to help.

Disadvantages

Bad news flies more than good news.
If a girl child is not properly guilded and monitored she can get involved in sexual activities that may lead to early pregnancy.

My family first born

I'm the second born of the family. My first born's name is Ugochukwu Princewill, he lives in Imo state, Nigeria and he is a student. He is so special in the family, because he is caring , funny and willing to help out in every little way he could.

How should parents prepare their first born ahead of the responsibility the will face in the family

While growing up, my parents made it known to all of us to be hardworking, their is more to life than eating and sleeping. The household chores was shared among all and everyone partakes in it, cooking routine was also made, both male and female gender partake in the cooking routine.

Parents should endeavor to have a guidance session with their children, encourage them on the once they are improving on, correct them on their mistakes and advice them on the theories of life.

Conclusion

The responsibility of the family should not only rest on the first born but should be shared amonge all the children, because if the last born of the house mess up, he/she is also part of the family. It all depends on the kit of training given to the child.
